I bought this for my daughter's 2nd birthday. She's a little young, but really enjoys pretend play. The dollhouse is excellently made and seems to be very durable. The colors are great and not to bright and gaudy like some girls toys, just a pretty pink. The little people that come with it seem to be very durable too, they have the wire bendy bodies but do not seem like they will be easy to break or break at all. The furniture is the perfect size for little hands and has all of the basic things that you would want to come in this little set. The other great thing about this dollhouse is its size. We don't have a whole lot of room in our house and I really wanted my daughter to be able to bring her dollhouse out of her room and play in the living room where everyone else is. With this dollhouse she can carry it about, it's a bit heavy for her right now but doable. If you buy this dollhouse you will not be disappointed!!

My daughter is almost 3 and she LOVES this toy! She immediately started making up tasks for the dolls to do. She talks to the dolls and creates stories for them - all out loud. It's so funny to listen in! She's even named the dolls - Princess and Boy! Funny!
The dolls are the perfect size for her little hands. They are somewhat posable too - their arms move and their legs bend so they can sit and it's easy enough for a toddler to pose the dolls on their own. The furniture that comes with the house is cute and plenty enough to keep her busy! The only thing I don't like about the dollhouse is the lack of a latch on the outside of the house. It's hard for Serenity to carry it without everything dumping out. AND if you're traveling with it, you'd have to make sure it doesn't fall over and everything comes tumbling out. I'll probably buy a tiny latch and install it myself to take care of the problem. But overall, it's a great toy that will probably last a long time. I didn't want another piece of plastic that lasts around a minute and does nothing to inspire Serenity's imagination.

I purchased this cute little dollhouse for my speech therapy toy bag. I work with children three with special needs and under and this is a great, simple little house. It has a bendy boy and a girl along with a kitchen, bed, living room and bath. Plenty of activities for a first dollhouse (just as much furniture as the regular sized "Fold and Go" house from M&D). This house reminds me of the simple and fun Little People sets from when I was a child (before all the bells and whistles were added). I haven't showed this house to my four year old, since I'm concerned she'll beg for me to take it home! Only caveat, for my needs I wish it wasn't pink, but I know that most little girls would be thrilled with the color. Thanks M&D for another great product.

We own the earlier version of this toy, which has an unpainted exterior and furniture. The earlier version had non-bending figures, and I imagine the bending ones will be more satisfying for kids to play with.
I do like the fact that M&D has added some color to the house, and I think it will be more appealing to kids with a colorful exterior, but does a dollhouse have to be PINK? Boys like imaginative play too, and although many families try NOT to stick to strict color segregation of toys for their kids, eventually children do pick up the social message that pink is "for girls." I'm disappointed in M&D for implicitly making this into a toy for girls.

I couldn't find a dollhouse that wasn't pink so I bought this one for my 2 boys and they love it. I think it's important for both boys and girls to role play and play house so there should be a choice other than pink that would be more suited for boys.

My daughter got an earlier version of this house as a present two years ago. I searched for it to recommend it to friends looking for a wooden dollhouse and was deeply disturbed to find out it now only comes in a pink and purple color scheme. This *was* a great dollhouse: wooden, nicely made, compact design, stores well. But now suddenly it's pink and purple? Because dollhouses are only for girls, and girls can only play with pink and purple toys? Melissa and Doug, bring back the plain house and the red furniture! I'm so, so tired of everything (clothing, toys, decor) marketed towards only girls or only boys, and everything marketed towards girls being pink or purple. Why? Why? Why? What is wrong with the zombies running the toy industry these days? Ugh.

With fond memories of the Fisher Price little people doll house of my childhood I purchased this for my four-year-old daughter's birthday. Overall it is well-made. But I second the frustration already mentioned about it not having a latch. It has two handles mounted on the roof, one on each half. If the house isn't carried by both handles, held firmly, it can open and dump the contents. And it is easy to accidentally dump over while moving around on the floor or on a shelf where it is stored. While the furniture is solid wood, it isn't necessarily durable. My tiny daughter managed to break two pieces of the furniture within a month. A misplaced foot can be disastrous for this set. Also, why doesn't it come with any baby or children dolls? Only a man and a woman? What little girl plays house without babies? I wish it had a family set of dolls. Overall, it's probably the best out there in this category, but it could be improved.

This dollhouse is exquisite! It is the dollhouse I dreamed of as a child, but never had. It is safe, well-made, and comes with beautiful accessories. I could not believe I got so much for the price! It will be treasured in my Play Therapy inventory, I know!

I was reticent to buy this, even considering all the positive reviews, because the photos make the dollhouse look so odd. It looked small and weirdly shaped (e.g., the people and furniture were very blocky). But so far we love it! My three year old started playing with it right away and had created her own little world in a few minutes. The people and furniture are just the right size for her to move them around and use them as she wants. The house is easy to carry and small enough that it can be tucked away when not in use so it doesn't take up a lot of room. Great choice for a first dollhouse and it's really good value for the money.
I would, however, agree with other comments that they should offer a less girly color option.

I purchased this for my daughter a couple Christmases ago, and she immediately fell in love with it. She was 5 at the time, and now is almost 7, but she still plays with this dollhouse on an almost daily basis. She loves that she can carry it with her, and put it through different scenarios depending on where it is placed in her room. I love that it brings out her creativity, definatly a great purchase for anyone looking to buy a dollhouse. The only drawback I've found is that the little wooden people don't hold up well against a 100lb dog.
