As my title states, the barn is fine--it's a wooden structure that folds open with 6 separate areas/stalls. But the animals--the main thing for my animal-loving child--are horrible. The turkey, horse and goat can barely stand on their own (the horse would be shot he's so unstable) and the sizes are all off. I luckily also got a Safari Farm Animal Toob and their animals are MUCH better--better looking and better made. Plus they're labeled lead and phylate free, and since MD doesn't label theirs I assume they aren't. The Toob--$10. How is this barn worth almost $50? I would be happy to pay it if it were made in the US (it isn't) or if it were also lead/BPA free. Hopefully this purchase will finally cure me from buying MD's overpriced "natural" looking made-in-China junk.

Very poor construction! My son received it for Christmas and really liked it, but it basically fell apart in his hands the next day when he tried to move it. All of the fasteners along the hinge tore out of the plywood with very little provocation -- it's no wonder, since they're TINY and don't penetrate very far into the edge of the plywood. Also, it's worth noting that the plywood is kind of splintery and is not painted along the edges like it is in the promotional photos. Not sure what's going on here, as I usually have good luck with Melissa & Doug toys, but this was a pretty big fail.

I recently bought this toy for my grandson, who is two years old. I was afraid it would be too heavy and large for him to carry, but it is just right Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. My grandson enjoys setting up the animals in various positions and opening and closing the sliding doors. His favorite thing to do is to make a square with the fence and enclose all the animals, standing side by side. (This is quite difficult, as the fence is rather small). The barn and the animals seem sturdy but I don't have them long enough to know for sure. My only complaint about the set is that there is no latch, so the barn can open when moved from place to place. Years ago I had a similar style barn for my children and one handle had a piece that clicked under and locked into the other handle. I think Melissa and Doug should consider doing this in their future production.

This was an unexpectedly great purchase, with wonderful detail, smooth-working parts and ample room for play and lodging of the horses and other animals! I reviewed and shopped online scrupulously for several hours, until I selected this Fold-and-Go Mini Barn (as well as the Fold-and-Go Mini Stable). I bought this and the mini stable to go with the Schleich horses and other like-sized Schleich animals we've gifted to a 6 year old granddaughter. The barn (as well as the stable) was a hit! I also added a section of Melissa and Doug wooden articulating fence (about 3 feet long)to go with it; though it's supposed to be sized for the larger horses, it was also a real pleaser, working well for these animals and this barn and the stable! (She decided to paint all the wooden articulating fencing barn red, and that actually turned out very nicely; just dilute the paint -- we used artists' acrylic -- so fencing still moves!)

I wanted to like this toy as we are usually impressed with Melissa and Doug toys...the barn has several rough places around the window and door openings where you could easily get a splinter. The animals are ugly plastic with their heads glued on - there is an uneven seam of glue around each head! The barn doors are ill fitting and don't slide well, and the stall doors don't even open. I guess the animals are expected to jump over the stall to get in and out!

Instead of a hinge, this terrible barn opens on a metal strip pounded into the two halves of the barn with tiny nails. This strip immediately pulled free from the barn, leaving dangerous exposed metal pieces and permanently separating the two halves of the barn.

And this was the second barn; we had to return the first one because it arrived already broken in this manner.

I bought this for my nephew's second birthday and he loved it! The animal's heads are glued on like some of the other reviews state, but they won't pull off and you can just see a seam, no glue. The animals are a decent size and look appropriate with the size of the barn. Great for little hands to pick up and play with. Also there is no choking hazard here, even the smaller animals are a decent size.

The barn comes with the animals pictured and has a wooden fold-up corral and a wooden ladder for the interior. The barn does not latch and has a very sturdy hinge that runs nearly the entire length of the barn. The slide open doors are easy for little fingers to work and there are several little rooms inside for playing. The barn itself is high quality and seems like it could stand up to several drops off a table.

The gift wrap option was a large, very sturdy, blue bag with a yellow ribbon.

I purchased this barn for my 3 year old son back in August for the Christmas of 2011. I can't return it (neither will you if you open yours after a month) because I just stuck it in the closet, and waited for Christmas, it is now 1/2/12. The door was broken before he took the plastic off. I thought it would easily be put back on, however it keeps coming off. The grey roof has lifted and broken off in 2 places. I must say I expected for it to be a bit more durable. My son only played with it about 3 times (there being so much other stuff to play with). He does enjoy it and plays with the little animals that come in it, not being bothered at all by the defects. I guess I am the only one disappointed by the toy!
