My son received this puzzle as a gift for his third birthday. Right away he wanted to put it together. At first I had to tell him where every piece went but it wasn't long before he wanted to put together certain areas (like the cows and horse) together by himself. Within a few weeks he was putting it all together without help.

Because the topic is interesting and there aren't many solid colored areas, this puzzle is great for stimulating the minds of toddlers and preschoolers without being overwhelming.

I would highly recommend this puzzle and other similar puzzles. Don't be fooled by the fact that some puzzles have large pieces. That doesn't mean a young preschooler will be able to discern colors and patterns. Look for puzzles like this one where it is easy to break down into sections. Again, a great puzzle.

My 2 year old son just received this for his birthday. He thinks it's ok, but my 3 year old daughter absolutely LOVES it! As soon as she's done putting it together, she takes it apart and puts it together again.
I hope that Santa brings her more Melissa and Doug floor puzzles for Christmas!

I bought the Farm Friends puzzle for my nephew's birthday, and it was such a hit that it was hard to get him to open any of his other gifts. He wanted to start on it right away.

My sister was pumped, too, because it has some kind of coating that makes it easy to clean when something gets spilled.

All in all, a great product at a very affordable price.

My son received this puzzle for his 3rd birthday and he loves it! He is a puzzle fanatic and has quite a stack of them. This is the one he selects the most. Like a previous reviewer said, he likes to put it together in sections, which is really neat to see.

I like how thick the pieces are. So many other puzzles of his have bent pieces that no longer fit together properly. Hasn't been an issue with this one yet. And considering how often he puts it together, that is a great sign.

My nephew loved his puzzle. It is the shape of a Farm and the peices are huge so that he has no touble manipulating them. He just turned 3 so it is a little difficult for him but we put it together 7 times in a row after he opened it for Christmas.

I purchased this puzzle for my three year old. He enjoys putting the puzzle together all by himself (with VERY sturdy puzzle pieces) and naming the animals in the barn. The illustration is beautiful, and the pieces are a great size for toddlers/pre-schoolers. Every Melissa & Doug toy that we have purchased has been of excellent quality, and very appealing to my son; this puzzle continues that tradition. I know that this will be played with over and over again.

This is a great puzzle! My son is 2 1/2 and wants to put it together almost every day! It is amazing to watch him, because every time we sit down on the kitchen floor to do this together he can do it more and more on his own! And when we are done he is so proud of himself, I love it! I am online right now looking for more just like it!

My 3 year old daughter got this puzzle for Christmas and she simply adores it. This is her fourth Melissa & Doug puzzle and I have to say she loves them all. As soon as she is done with one she puts it away and runs for another one. Keep making wonderful puzzles Melissa & Doug!!

I got this puzzle for my four-year-old grandson. Being a typical boy, he doesn't have quite the coordination (or maybe it's 'patience'!) of girls his age. He loves puzzles but until now, he has been limited to 10-12 piece wooden puzzles for his age. The larger pieces of this 32-piece puzzle are perfect for him! (Later, we worked a much smaller 32-piece puzzle, and he didn't enjoy it nearly as much.) The picture is fun, and the colors are appealing to a young child. I highly recommend these puzzles for your preschooler........though older children will have great fun with them, too......especially because of the larger sized finished piece!

The large floor puzzles by Melissa and Doug are great for little kids anywhere from the ages of 3-6 years of age provided you keep with the concept of buying these attractive large floor puzzles that have less than 50 pieces...ideally 30 to 40 pieces would be an excellent puzzle, toy, and learning experience for young children. A little older children, or children very familiar with puzzles, may be interested in the larger floor puzzles that have close to 100 pieces. But little boys certainly love the large fire truck, the barnyard/farm puzzle, and the Underwater scene. Would highly recommend but let the children figure it out and not the parents.
