We love Melissa and Doug puzzles. They are sturdy and last longer than other puzzles. I wish there was a picture for my son to go off of but he seems to be doing OK without it.

It is not easy to find 50 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle, and the picture is nice.

BUT!!!

This puzzle is made of thin plywood. The top veneer (printed picture) peels off when you try to separate two puzzle peaces. The plywood is obviously not compressed enough or just plain low quality.

And many many splints!!!

I have more than 15 wooden puzzles made in Europe or US, and they never had this kind of problem. I am very disappointed.

I wouldn't buy anoter Melissa and Doug wooden puzzle. Their hardboard puzzles are ok, but Crocodile Creek puzzles are a lot better (more expensive though).

My grandson was almost 4 when he got this for Christmas. Beautiful and durable, but he got a splinter from it. I'd suggest you'd need to sand all the edges of each puzzle piece before allowing a child to play with it. I wouldn't have expected this to be necessary. I won't buy another from this company for this very reason.

This is a gorgeous puzzle. The colors are vivid. My grandson and I have put it together many times. It's quite durable. The difficulty level is perfect for a pre-schooler or older toddler. I ordered it from Amazon.com and received it 2 days later.

I bought this for my son's 3rd Birthday. He loves puzzles and I have been so happy with all of the other Melissa and Doug products we have got in the past. While my son Loves this puzzle I have been very unhappy.
1. When we first opened the puzzle it was almost stuck and to almost break the pieces to get them to come undone.
2. Piece have already started to bend and break(had this for less then a month).
3. Piece are very hard to piece together. My son can sometime not get pieces to go together do to them being to tight
As i said my son does love this puzzle, but i have not been as pleases as i would have hoped.

I love Melissan & Doug products! Extremely durable. Vibrant colors. Solid build. I loved it so much I bought 3 different ones. A much better investment than cardboard puzzles. Buy it!

I bought this puzzle for my toddler son (2 yrs, 9 mos). I love this puzzle. The picture is gorgeous and educational (it has several animals from a rainforest environment: tree frogs, a sloth, a jaguar, a toucan, ants, a snake, a bright blue butterfly). The colors are even richer and brighter than on the screen. Just beautiful.

I had read in other reviews of these wooden puzzles that they sometimes have wood chips, etc., so I opened it before showing it to my son to check. Really, it was just a little bit of the soft shaving debris on the bottom layer from the wood's being cut. I took about 10 minutes and just ran my thumb over the edges of each piece to remove any loose debris. There was nothing big. There were about three bottom edges that I filed a little to smooth. I steered clear of messing with the top edge; the laminate was very well adhered to the top wood layer of each piece. If after a while I see any part coming up, I just plan to glue it back down, but I haven't seen any evidence of it in a few weeks of use (putting it together 2-3 times/day).

My son and I worked the puzzle together several times before he was ready to do it on his own (with occasional help). He loves it. He loves the bright colors; the blue butterfly usually gets put together first. We've done other puzzles together, but I really like the different challenges in this wood puzzle. Tabs of unadjacent pieces will fit together, since as a wooden cut the tab shapes are simplified, and my son quickly noticed that just because two pieces seemed to fit together didn't mean they went together. The picture is very clear, and it's easy to see when the pieces match. I love the Melissa & Doug floor puzzles, but this is a great puzzle size for my son, where he can easily see and control the whole space, yet it's still a challenging 48-piece puzzle.

I highly recommend this beautiful puzzle.

My daughter is 2 1/2 yrs old and loves these puzzles. She does them over and over again. The wood backed pieces make them more durable than cardboard puzzles - and they are great for spatial reasoning. The picture also gave us an opportunity to learn animals and colors.

This is a beautiful rainforest jungle 48 pc wooden puzzle. I bought it for my 7 yr old granddaughter and she enjoys putting it together. It is well made as Melissa and Doug toys always are. I am happy with my purchase.

Horrible, my kid hated it and he loves most puzzles. Pieces do not fit easy and it hard to figure out where a piece go because all pieces are exactly the same size and shape.
