Children will love crawling through the caterpillar design of the Melissa & Doug Happy Giddy Tunnel. The material is water-repellant, so it can be used both inside and outdoors, and spills and messes can be conveniently wiped off. The tunnel is designed for kids ages three and up. With a durable, padded steel-frame and almost 5 feet of space, this tunnel offers plenty of play space. Each end is covered with a flexible flip-up door, and the lengthy tunnel easily packs into a small circle for storage.

Water-Repellant, Easy-to-Clean Material

With its water-repellant design, the Happy Giddy tunnel can be used inside and outside. This also means it can be easily wiped clean, so you won't have to worry about spills and messes. The tunnel should not be exposed to sunlight or moisture for long periods of time, as this can result in color fade or mildew.

Colorful 5-Foot Tunnel

The Happy Giddy tunnel is nearly 5 feet long, providing plenty of space for small people to play and explore. Kids can enjoy hide-and-seek games with flip-up doors on each end. Each door features a large clear plastic caterpillar eye that lets children peek out at the world or peer inside the tunnel. A rainbow of stripes gives the tunnel an exciting, colorful appearance.

Durable Steel-Frame Design

The sturdy frame of the tunnel is made from flexible steel to withstand the bumps and bends that naturally come with play. The frame is padded to be comfortable on small knees. Secure stitching on the doors and along all parts of the tunnel will keep the tube in shape for years of use.

Engaging Caterpillar Design

Caterpillar details add to the fun of the tunnel. Each end features a flip-up caterpillar face, complete with brilliant orange antennae. Sixteen blue feet line the bottom sides of the tunnel, and they are loose enough to flop around as the tunnel moves.

Convenient Storage and Setup

Even though the Happy Giddy tunnel offers a large space for children to play, it packs into a small, flat circle that can be conveniently stored. With three simple Velcro straps, the tunnel snaps open easily when it's playtime.

Setting up the tunnel doors is simple, too: two Velcro straps on the top of the tunnel ends clasp around the top of the caterpillar's head, creating the flip-up style door on both ends. Since the Velcro clasps are flexible, the doors will not break if twisted sideways.

I had purchased this for my daughter and was alarmed to read the review about the toxic PVC. So, I emailed Melissa & Doug and this was the response I received:

"To answer your question yes, the eyes are made with PVC. We have a very stringent testing program at Melissa & Doug, and we take the safety and quality of our products very seriously. We test all of our products to the standards required by the US Government. Generally the concern with PVC is that there are phthalates. We have tested the tunnel many times and we have test reports that show non-detectable levels for phthalates."

Just thought others would be interested.

Our children absolutely enjoy this toy, it is colorful and fun! HOWEVER, the eyes are made out of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC contains extremely toxic chemicals called phthalates that continue to offgas for years (the "new" smell) even past when your nose can detect it and are readily absorbed through skin contact directly into the bloodstream. New studies are showing very serious consequences to the hormonal systems of humans, especially children, when exposed to phthalates - the younger the child, the more it affects their small developing body. Needless to say, this is an incredibly irresponsible type of plastic to put on a toy such as this.

Good news? There is a very simple solution to quickly get rid of the toxic PVC on this product & instantly remove the "new" smell it causes. Puncture the plastic eye hole with scissors and then cut with the scissors open (they will glide while cutting like good wrapping paper), go around the entire outer circle until the pvc is removed. There are no sharp edges since the pvc is softened with phthalates, and although this technique will not remove all of the toxins, it will significantly reduce your child's exposure since the remaining PVC is sewn into the eye seam of the caterpillar.

Even better news? By removing the toxic PVC eyes, your child can now play hide n seek through a "window" - it looks exceptionally cute with their little head poking out! They can also learn to throw bean bags through the opening, practicing coordination and aim. By removing the bad stuff from this product, it actually makes it more fun alongside being healthier too! Enjoy! I rate this item 4 stars post-pvc removal, 2 stars before since it contains known toxins banned in many countries.

Our 13 month old daughter loves this tunnel. When she enters the playroom she will find it collapsed and gesture to have it opened. I thought she'd get bored of this after a couple months because it is just a tunnel after all but she squeals in delight as she crawls through it. We'll throw a ball through it once in awhile to see it come out the other end. The cats will run through it. When you close the flaps it's a super fun game of hide and seek and it must be thrilling for 13 month old to break through it. I don't get it but it makes her so happy.

It's very lightweight, easy to collapse and store and is very durable. The flaps are a nice touch too. I highly recommend it.

My daughter loves this toy. We gave it to her for her first birthday and she wants to play with it several times a day. My only complaint is that the feet don't have weights, which I had pictured, so the tunnel rolls when she crawls in it.

I bought this for my youngest son's 1st birthday. He loves it and so does his 4 year old brother! We have had it for almost a year now and they still pull it out at least once a week. My 4 year old will actually pull around the tunnel while my 1 (almost 2) year old is in the tube and they think it's the greatest thing ever. I'm aware that is not its intended usage but it is a testament to its durability. No rips, holes or tears to date.

The only problem we have had with this is that we have a lot of tile in our house and this thing hurts when you crawl through it on tile (I've done it!) The coil that helps it keep its shape is really hard on the knees. So, just make sure you have a carpeted area that you can use this and it seems to lessen the pain from kneeling on the coil. Storing it is super easy, it comes in a plastic carrying case that zips up. There are 3 velcro fasteners to close up the main tube and then there are 2 additional velcro fasteners on each side to attach the faces. The eyes are made out of a clear plastic which can be fun for peek-a-boo. I'd give it five stars if they could use some kind of coil that doesn't hurt when you crawl over it. Overall, a good purchase!

Unfortunately we returned this as it includes flame retardant, this wasn't apparent on the amazon page so thought it wise to place a review. (we didn't do the caterpillar one as the eyes include BPA) It does look like a fun tunnel though, so wish we could have used it but the boy gets enough exposure to chemicals already

My toddler plays with this tunnel and does get some enjoyment out of it. The ring supports are hard and not that comfortable to crawl over. My rating would be higher if the ring supports had some sort of padding around them.

My 3-year old niece LOVED this from the get go! She loved hiding in it, watching movies from it, and she even had the adults pull her around it for a fun ride and slide (we have hardwood floors). I was surprised by how sturdy it felt, and the colors and detail were a plus. I really liked how it compresses flat and slides right into its storage bag. My sister-in-law is very chemical conscious so i try to be careful about the materials in the toys I buy for her kids, but I thought the negative PVC review for the small "eye" of the caterpillar was a bit much. I'll keep my concerns about PVC to things used for eating or drinking (plates, cups, etc), not a teeny eye on large, well-ventilated toy, but that's just me.
