I am not just thrilled with the quality of Melissa and Doug products. I took a risk on this product because I have not been happy with the quality of their products in the past, but I though this looked really cute.

When I opened the box, many of the bear pieces were jagged as if someone still needed to sand them. The wood on three of the pieces is completely cracked. I DID NOT give this product to my kids. I may try to sand them down and just toss the three broken pieces.

If I let my kids play with this toy it will be COMPLETELY supervised.

I purchased this puzzle for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. She was so excited when she saw it. We sat down to play and in less than 5 minutes the paper cover for the background of the puzzle started to seperate from the wood board. It was only a matter of minutes before she started pulling the paper off. The wood was balsa wood. It didn't take any time before she had started peeling that up from the puzzle board. It was a major disappointment for something made for children to be made so poorly. The puzzle pieces are cute and I will make a game she can play with those. Call me Disappointed Grandma!

I bought this for my 3 year old and it's a huge hit! My 5 year old really likes it too. My son is a hard one to keep occupied for very long. He is always on the move! However, he will sit and play with this for at least a half hour... longer if he and my 5 year old are playing together. They love making stories to go with the outfits. "Daddy's going to work", "Ah, baby bear is sad because he has to go to school"....its so fun to listen to them pretend.

This puzzle is played with everyday.

The only thing I do not like about this puzzle is the fact that the pieces chip so easily. Granted my kids have played with it a lot but we have only had it about a week and one of the pieces is already chipped. I am still happy with this toy and would recommend it to others.

We got this toy for our daughter's 3rd birthday. She has really enjoyed playing with it. She's very particular that all the outfits match, and enjoys getting the bear family ready for various pretend events.

I would have rated this product higher, however the quality is seriously lacking. The pieces are layered and we've had to glue several of them. The storage box is constructed out of poor-quality, thin wood, so I can see it breaking in the future.

I picked up a single Melissa and Doug Dress Up Bear for my daughter earlier this year and she loved it. For her birthday, she got this family set and it has been a hit as well.

With three different bears to dress, it provides more possible combinations than the single bear and more complexities (there are specific pieces that fit in the mama, papa and baby bear so the child has to figure out which pieces goes to which bear).

Each bear has 5 different faces (happy, sad, mad, scared, sleeping) and 5 different outfits (a couple of casual ones, pajamas, rain gear, formal gear). The combinations can be used to tell all sorts of different stories about the bears.

If you have the single bear and your child likes it, I highly recommend this family set. If you do not have the single bear, I still recommend this family set (over the single bear because for a few more dollars, you can get a lot more toy).

This is a wonderful product. It is well made, has variable options for creating different outfits, and is as cute as a button! I and my granddaughter am very pleased with this precious puzzle.

Bought this for our daughte who's 2.5 years. It's engaging, sparks her creativity, interesting and good quality.
This is more wrth it than the individual version. Just break in the puzzle by showing 1 character and their puzzle pieces at the time. This will prevent them to get overwhelmed in the beginning.
Great product.

I ordered this item for my two year old. It's a really cute puzzle and the idea behind dressing the bears is cute, but none of the pieces are interchangable. Not even the heads, which are all about the same size. I really wish I had read the reviews before purchasing since some of them state the same problem. My daughter lost interest very quickly when she wasn't able to fit the pieces into the bears' shapes. To make clean up easier for me, becuase most toddlers aren't going to care that the pieces have seperate compartments and all the pieces end up in one pile, I color coded the backs with a dot (pink is for mama bear, blue for baby, etc). Hopefully, this will also help her gain interest in it later, as she can match the color to the correct bear. I'm not sure of what the age recommendation is by the company (probably something else i missed), but I would steer clear of this toy if you have a smaller child.

Pros: Each bear has 4 faces and outfits to pick from. Lots of combinations. I'm a Speech-Language Pathology graduate student, and this toy will have some great applications in therapy!

Cons: The quality of this product was kind of disappointing. The title says "wooden bear family." Imagine my disappointment when I opened up the box and found out the pieces were made of particle board/composite! I think if these pieces were to get wet, they would probably warp and fall apart! Will have to take care when disinfecting after sessions. I expected a little more from a Melissa & Doug product.

Purchased this for Christmas last year and it is now May. My daughter was 2 1/2 at the time and she still plays with it all the time! It's fun to make "families" with the bears, change their outfits, and (not so good for our feet) spread all the pieces out everywhere and match up similar outfits, pieces, sizes, etc. It has been played with so much more than any puzzles or games. Highly recommend! (Only reason for mid-level review on "durability" is I'm not sure how well this would stand up to a child who's a little more tough on toys or if it got wet. Also it doesn't feel like it would take much to break these but again, 6 months later and they're still all in good shape so... 5 stars!)
