It gets 4 stars JUST FOR being passionfruit,

Apparently Melissa's gets their passionfruit summer through winter from California, and early spring through summer from New Zealand. I ordered in September and got fruits containing an unusually homogeneous, liquid pulp, almost as if they'd been thrown in a centrifuge and shaken; it wasn't the most fragrant either. But still - passionfruit! Even not-great passionfruit is terrific. I will try again after Xmas, as the NZ stuff is bound to be better; New Zealand knows its passionfruit. It's just a relief to be able to get pfruit in the USA.
Recipe follows: Custard Squares You will need: - custard powder (Bird's or Edmond's) - passionfruit - icing sugar / confectioner's sugar - puff pastry - an 8-inch square brownie pan - milk, sugar, an egg Roll sufficient puff pastry into a sheet and cut into 2 8-inch squares. Place on a cookie sheet and bake in a hot oven until golden and puffy. When cool, line the brownie pan with one square; keep the other for a top layer. Make a custard by combining 5 Tb custard powder, 4 cups milk, 7 Tb sugar, and the egg, and stir over medium heat until thickened. Quickly pour / scoop into the brownie pan and spread it around. Place the second pastry sheet on top and smooth it down. The custard will solidify as it reaches room temperature. When the contents of the pan are cool, ice with passionfruit icing. For icing, mix the pulp of 2 passionfruit (seeds and all) with enough powdered sugar to reach a thin, spreadable consistency. Passionfruit seeds are crunchy and add interest. Cut the "big custard square" into brownie-size small squares with a sharp knife and eat with fingers.

Passion Fruit Addiction Cure!!!!! Ohhhh YEAH!!!,
By TacoNinja "TacoNinja" (secret) - See all my reviews

My mother is a genius!!!! I never even thought to try Amazon for passion fruit! I am infamous at the local fruitstands in Hawaii as Mr. Lillikoi/Passion fruit. I have had no luck for my extreme passion fruit jonesing til last week. Definitely not cheap compared to the 5-10 pound bags I get for 5$ in Kona, but I am sooo stoked to have a year round mainland supplier ;) Mahalo to Mom, Amazon, and especially the magical fruit goddess "Melissa!"
