Product Description

Melitta 80391 Coffee Grinder

There’s nothing like the aroma of a hot cup of coffee or delicious espresso drink made from the freshest coffee beans. Grind your own coffee beans and experience a flavor revolution at home. There’s a reason coffee shops grind the beans right before preparing your beverage; it just tastes better. Whole coffee beans have volatile compounds that are released when ground, and the longer ground coffee is exposed to the air, the more it loses those compounds and aromas. Grinding the beans right before brewing will keep your coffee’s rich, full-bodied flavor intact. The Melitta Coffee Grinder offers hands-free operation. Add the beans and press the button for true one-touch grinding. Depending on your preference, set the grind fineness to coarse, medium, or fine. Serving a crowd? Grind enough beans to make up to 14 cups of coffee at once.

One touch grinding

Simply pour in your coffee beans and place the cover on the grinder. Adjust the grind and number of cups, press the button, and in a few seconds fresh, aromatic ground coffee will be ready to go. Pour the ground coffee right from the removable grinding chamber into your coffeemaker or espresso machine filter.

Takes the guesswork out

You don’t have to pre-measure the beans to get the right amount of coffee. Easy-to-read measurement marks inside the grinding chamber let you add the correct amount. Grinding time is customized as well. Whether you need enough coffee for a couple shots of espresso in the morning or a full pot for a Sunday brunch, simply adjust the cup setting and the grinder takes care of it. When grinding is complete, it shuts off automatically.

Easy cleanup

Cleaning out the grinder is easy. The included coffee brush conveniently stores on the back of the grinder and lets you clean around the blade. Both the grinding chamber and cover remove with a simple twist and can be submerged in water for cleaning. Cord storage is hidden under the grinder to keep things tidy when not in use.

Coffee making tips

For best flavor, store coffee beans in an airtight container. Grind beans immediately before brewing. Grinding times will vary by amount and fineness setting. To ensure optimal grinding performance, allow coffee grinder to cool for at least one minute between uses. Coffee flavor and strength is a personal preference. Vary the type of coffee beans, amount of coffee, and fineness of grind to find the flavor you prefer.

Dedicated to the perfect cup

For more than 100 years, Melitta has been there, making sure you get the best cup possible. If it has to do with hot beverage machines, filter technology, coffee, or tea, Melitta is the name to remember.

This coffee grinder is the same as the Hamilton Beach # 80365 at almost double the price.I have both grinders,on the bottom of the Melitta you find a label stating it is (Made by Hamilton Beach)They look a little different on the outside but the grinder part is the same. The product discription should tell you this,Had I known this at the time of the order I would never have ordered another Hamilton Beach,They have a very short life span. I hope this review helps someone looking for a replacement for the #80365. This is not it. Be sure to read the reviews on the # 80365,Especially the one star reviews.

I really liked this grinder when I got it, worked very well and easy to clean, but the switch and motor failed after only weekend use for less than a year.

Mellita has made an excellent grinder. Compact, easy to clean and store. I compare this to other similar types of grinders, krups, Cusinart, and find it does a better job, is quieter and does a very good job grinding. The settings work well, though the grind is not that of the more expensive ($100 and up) burr grinders, it is pretty uniform. The removable bowl makes cleaning easy, the cord storage is very nice. Like anything you have to experiment to get to your desired grind, but it doesn't take long. I recommend this inexpensive grinder. Well worth the money.

Update: Still on top as my favorite grinder. I have been grinding more coffee than ever since I now have a Toddy maker and have to say this does an excellent job.

I decided to order this grinder due to the high rating and affordable price, which I received a little over a month ago. After less than ten uses the grinding blade separated from the shaft and the grinder is no longer useable. The threaded piece where the blade attached to the shaft is plastic, which stripped and cannot be re-attached. Since I am just outside of the 30 day return, I would only receive a partial refund, which is not even worth the trouble of paying for the shipping to return it. I would advise spending a bit more for a better quality grinder (this unit was $20 when I ordered). Extremely disappointed in the quality of this product.

The grinding chamber of the Melitta Coffee Grinder cracked quickly, in multiple places. When we tried to contact Melitta customer service, we were referred to Hamilton Beach, making it apparent that the grinder is actually a Hamilton Beach product that is relabeled "Melitta". Hamilton Beach doesn't provide a useful warranty on the product. Although the company will replace the cracked grinding chamber within one year after purchase, it asked me to pay $5.95 shipping cost for the replacement. The grinding chamber is such a piece of junk and breaks so quickly that I didn't feel like throwing good money after bad by paying $5.95 to have the replacement shipped. So after just a few months of use, purchase of this product became a total waste of money in my case.

The design on the lid lock/unlock switch is faulty. The locking switch which allows it to grind is engaged by the lid being twisted into place. Unfortunately the lid rotates by the vibration free of this switch instantly, going to off so the only way to make it go through the grind length is to hold the lid in place. I tried cleaning the edges that meet and it still rotates back to off. Very poor design.

We purchased this grinder mainly due to using our last Melitta coffee grinder for almost 18 years. My husband had it when I met him and we joked it is one of the only things we still had for our entire marriage. We drink a lot of coffee so our last grinder was used alot. But it finally gave up and we had to toss it. I must say however I didn't know what I was missing. Although the old one did the job, I love this new grinder. My favorite thing about it is that you do not have to hold the button when it grinds, you push the button and while it grinds you can fill the coffee maker with water. Also I really like how the grinding cup comes out of the unit so you can dump the grinds into the filter without picking up the entire unit. It has lots of adjustments which I haven't messed with much since it worked so well right out of the box. I can't say enough good about the Melitta Grinders. We are very happy with it so far.

First, this is not a burr grinder, so it uses a spinning blade to chop the coffee beans. Even with the variable setting the twirling of the blade did nothing but make a lot of noise and produced sub par coffee grinds. I tried every setting and I could never get a fine grind for expresso and the Course grind was uneven mixed with small and larger pieces of coffee.

I am truly disappointed as I had such hopes based on the reviews. The product also didn't want to turn on, it took several tries to finally get it to rotate. I think I must have gotten a lemon in this regards. Even still, the grind settings do not work as advertized and your better off getting a $9.00 grinder, it does the same thing but with enough time will give you expresso grinds.

I have to send this back and I do not recommend the product.
