Pretty basic filters however all similar ones are.

I like these slight more than generics that are lower priced.

If price isn't your number one issue then pay a little more for Melitta brand filters and buying these through Amazon is the easiest and at a fair price as far as I'm concerned.

5.0 out of 5 stars The simpler the better, January 11, 2012
This review is from: Melitta Cone Coffee Filters, Natural Brown, No. 4, 40-Count Filters (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
After much trial and error, my husband and I have determined that one of the best ways to make a great cup of coffee is also the simplest; a mug, a coffee cone, a cone filter, some hot water, and some great ground coffee. No more brewing a bitter pot of coffee that sits and gets worse by the minute. So we bought two of the Melitta cone filter holders that have a lip for easier grasp and then tried out several sizes and types of these filters.

Though the #2 filter is designed for the cones, we find that these #4 filters work better so we don't have any overflow problems. I sometimes trim these #4 filters down a little bit for a more perfect fit, but you don't have to. Also, I tried the white filters and the brown filters side by side, and the brown filters are MUCH faster draining than the white ones. They also do not clog up like the white ones do when you are using a finer ground of coffee.

I was paying twice as much in stores for this same product and since we don't plan to stop drinking coffee any time soon, I figured I may as well buy these in bulk to take advantage of the cheaper price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Filters work fine, December 2, 2011

I have been using the manual coffee maker with this kind of filters. They work fine although it is a bit over sized for my coffer maker. I did noticed the water flows through a little faster than I had hoped (love strong coffee) but it's not a problem for me. Overall, I am very happy with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars They work, September 15, 2011

Not much to say about these paper filters other than they work great for making coffee and I did not notice any paper flavor passed onto the coffee.

I can say that I was not prepared for the size of the package that arrived. A pack of 12 boxes is much larger than I envisioned and would have preferred a single box of 480 filters.

They can take forever for coffee to flow thru however if you grind your coffee fine, so I grind my coffee rather large and then brew/steep the coffee cowboy style, sans filter, in a porcelain pot, THEN pour it into a thermos using one of these filters.

The filters work great with the coffee maker. They hold up well. I would like to have less packaging. We have too many little boxes to store.

5.0 out of 5 stars brown coffee filters, September 15, 2010

The filters work fine, but I can't understand why they are so costly.I found only one other seller of the brown filters and they cost more! I thought the white filters are bleached, meaning they started out brown, right? So why are the bleached ones cheaper than the brown?
