5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant invention, ask anyone who percolates their coffee.
I have an old, rather beat-up percolator that I bought for $1 from the neighbor lady during a garage sale. It is terrific. Easy to make the coffee, the coffee tastes great and it takes up little counter space. But I would get these grounds in my coffee cup, and I didn't like it.

There is a better and far cheaper filter if you are using these for for your 12 cup electric percolator. (Westbend, Presto, Hamilton Beach, etc)
Believe it or not, it is the ubiquitous 8-12 cup basket coffee filters that are used by everyone who has a drip coffee maker. There is no hole so you simply center the basket filter on the percolator tube and push the filter down over the tube with your thumb and fingers close to tube to make sure that the puncture is not much larger than the size of the tube. You will find that even if you tear it a little larger than the tube when you press the filter down over it there will be no problem with coffee grinds getting through.

After you do this you will have a nice paper basket filter inside you electric drip coffee maker that works better than the small round disc filters that they sell for these and save money on these expensive wrap filters.

One additional tip about cleaning electric percolators. I fill the pot with 12 cups of water and then put one of the Cascade w/ Dawn dishwasher packets in the basket.
Cascade 2-in-1 Action Pacs Dishwasher Detergent, Original Scent, 32-Count Bags (Pack of 5)

I then put it together as if I was making coffee and let it go for a cycle. When the light goes on after the brew cycle I let the hot dishwasher solution sit for a while. Then I pour it out, rinse the pot and run another cycle with just water. This cleans the stainless pot and basket and even the bowl at the bottom.

Enter the percolator filter! These are great, because the grounds really have no where to go. My grocery store used to carry (but have stopped, which isn't good) the disc filters, which just sit under the grounds, but don't wrap around them in any way. So the grounds can still sneak into my cup (though it is better than nothing).

Also these make disposal easy. Just tip your percolator basket thingie (I have a percolator but am clearly not an expert on them) upside down, the filter falls out and you are ready for another pot of joe.

Thank you, Melitta!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Old Fashioned Coffee?, July 12, 2007

If you love a great cup of old fashioned "joe," and use a percolator, then these are the filters for you! These are a thousand times better than the round disk style filters. Because of the wrap around style of this filter, you will find no grounds in your cup, which is a major problem with the disk type filters. I bought these for my mom, and she was absolutly thrilled.

This item keeps the grounds out of the coffee and also keeps the perculator from getting a build up on the inside of the pot. The coffee tastes much better. It is exactly what I was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never use auto drip again!, January 22, 2009

After our last automatic drip coffeemaker died we brought out our old electric percolator pot... at first the coffee was full of grounds, not good.

Decided to purchase both the disc filters and these 'wrap around' filters. After using both I must admit that the wrap around filters are the way to go! No grounds in the coffee. (The disc type leaves a lot of grounds in the pot, even with one on top and one on the bottom of the coffee).

Hint: make sure your basket is completely dry before you try to use these as the filter will tear if it is wet. I also crumple them up a little before I put it in the basket. Push down to hold coffee and wrap up, couldn't be easier!

I will never go back to automatic drip again... not only do we save money by using the percolator pot by using less coffee per pot, we also have never tasted coffee so delish!

I give this product 10 stars if I could!

1.0 out of 5 stars Melitta Percolator coffee filters, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White Wrap Around, 40-Count Filters (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I purchased these percolator filters to go with a percolator pot that I ordered at the same time...thinking that it would be cleaner and easier to handle the grounds....I hate them! They're more trouble than they're worth!...I couldn't get them to fit right, and made more of a mess trying to use them!...will never try them again!

My family has used these types of filters in percolator coffee pots for decades. Then we couldn't find them anymore at the local grocery stores, for whatever reason. Found them on Amazon.com and purchased enough to last me 10 years. Love them!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Why BOTHER?, December 25, 2010
This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White Wrap Around, 40-Count Filters (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I have both a percolator and drip coffeemaker... perked coffee wins very time ~ nice rich full flavor & HOT the way coffee ought to be while drip is lackluster and only lukewarm!! This is my solution: take it or leave it; I have used these filters, tried the disc types and found both to be a hassle and too much work (and a waste of money!). I make my coffee without a filter, then pour into my cup through a fine fine strainer! I usually make a full pot so after I get MY cup I pour the remaining coffee into a carafe through the strainer as well... like I said, it's just an opinion but it takes the WORK out of having the best type of coffee possible without the grounds! By the way... (someone also posted this but it works great so thought I'd mention again!) easiest method of cleaning percolator is to run it through a cycle with some dishwashing detergent (I use the GEL)... then run it through another cycle with just water... voila!
