5.0 out of 5 stars No more mud
These are a must for fans of the perc. They work perfectly, but die-hard percolator users know the key is to run the basket under cool water before inserting the filter, so it clings to the basket before scooping in the ground coffee. If you haven't tried a perc and have memories of grandma's bitter and stale percolated coffee, you owe it to yourself to try it....WITH...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stop the presses: make your own on the cheap
I make my own percolator filters and they work fine. And mine are dirt cheap.

I simply buy a stack of normal basket-type filters at the grocery store. When I get home, I clamp the stack of filters tightly together and, using a Forstner bit, I drill a 3/8 inch hole through the center of the whole stack. I suppose a normal drill bit would work, but I've...

I suppose a normal drill bit would work, but I've never tried that.

A few filters on the top of the stack tend to get ripped up, but that's not a big deal.
The filter with the hole in the center nestles nicely into the moistened perc basket and the lid fits on top like it normally does. This method stops 99% of the mud from getting into my coffee and makes cleaning out the perc basket a breeze.

I used to make the hole each morning in the basket filter using a single-hole paper punch, but that got a little tedious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great -- Ace Hardware also carries them., December 10, 2010
This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White (3.5-Inch Discs), 100-Count Filters (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
These Melitta disc filters are a must have for anyone use uses a percolator to brew coffee. For best results, just remember to damp the filter with water after you place the filter inside the percolator.

For those who don't want to purchase 2,400 of these filters through Amazon, one can order single packages of them (containing 100 filters per package) from their local Ace Hardware store. If your Ace Hardware store doesn't carry it, just ask a clerk and they can special order it from their warehouse, and it will arrive at the store within three business days. There's no extra charge to special order them from an Ace Hardware store. The price I paid at Ace Hardware was only $1.39 + tax for a package of 100 filters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find filter for only coffe pot that keeps working, February 12, 2010

I've had several of the EXPENSIVE fancy coffee makers. They usually die after about a year. My aunt left me her old PRESTO Percolater {about 30 yrs old} when she died. It has continued to make excellent coffee to this very day. I had trouble finding the filters 'til I tried Amazon. Now I can continue to have my coffee daily. I feel I'm still having a cup with my aunt Dee every day. Thank you for continuing a beloved memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Percolated Coffee is the best!, February 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White (3.5-Inch Discs), 100-Count Filters (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
The Percolators require thest disc coffee filters and they are not easy to find anymore. They cost in the retail grocery store (if they carry them) about $1.70 a package so buying it in bulk from Amazon saved me on this as I believe that percolated coffee is the best coffee out there if you use a stainless percolator and I would not switch to a drip coffee maker for anything so if you own a Stainless percolator these filters will work and the price and pack size is great!

24 packs for $19.94 comes to .83 per pack. That is a bargain and does not even consider the subscribe and save 15% discount which would amount to a price of $16.95 or .71 per pack. Purchasing a single pack on the Amazon site costs $6.79 (plus shipping if you don't qualify for Super Saver). In addition, at least Amazon has these available. I could not find them in any store.

P.S. I plan to drink a lot of coffee.

Good product, but hit the wrong button and ended up with enough filters to last a life time
