Excellent value for those needing a quick cup, April 10, 2003
This review is from: Melitta ME2TMB Take 2 Stainless Steel Travel Mug Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I bought the Melitta Dual Mug Coffeemaker to replace my Black & Decker Single Cup "Brew N Go" and am very pleased with the purchase. In contrast to the B&D model, you can brew two cups or just one with the Melitta unit. Although it doesn't contain a permanent metal filter, the plastic filter holder in the Melitta is easy to clean. The entire unit in fact is mostly plastic, so it remains to be seen how long it will last, but it is well built. One subtle advantage the Melitta provides is that the H20 tank has clear markers inside indicating acceptable water levels for either 1 or 2 cups. This is an often overlooked feature by many manufacturers and is appreciated here. As noted by other reviewers, the included mugs are only steel on the outside; the inside insulation is again plastic. The mug width (circumference) is slightly larger than normal so it may not slide easily into your car's cup holders but that's a minor inconvenience. Coffee does stay hot in the mugs, or at least warm enough to drink, for approx. 2 hours. The unit brews quickly so that it's easy to make a mug and head off to work. If you often stop for coffee in the a.m., I'd recommend you pick up this unit. It enables you to quickly brew a fresh mug made to your tastes while also saving you money.

A Great Buy!, March 28, 2003
This review is from: Melitta ME2TMB Take 2 Stainless Steel Travel Mug Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I only drink one cup of coffee some morning when I feel like it. Also drink tea throughout the day. This coffee maker is just perfect for me. I get hot, fresh coffee or tea whenever I want to drink it. I also use it to make hot water for instant noodle. It heats up the water quickly. It takes no time to get a fresh cup of coffee/tea. It is just perfect for me. I normally make one cup of coffee/tea at a time, but I like the two-cup option. Whenever my friend comes to visit, I can make coffee/tea for her and I at the same time. The unit is very easy to use and clean. It requires a #2 paper filter. Some people may like a permanent filter better. However, I find a paper filter much easier to clean. I just pick it up and toss it in the trash. Then, I just rinse off the removable filter cup. I like the coffee cups. The are stylish. They are insulated. They keep the beverage warm longer than regular cups. They are easy to drink from (unlike some travel cups I have used). You can take them with you and set them in the cup holders in your car. I highly recommend this product to gourmet coffee drinkers who like to have a fresh cup every time. It also makes a great gift!

Fiddly - fills 2 mugs unevenly - leaks on counter-top, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Melitta ME2TMB Take 2 Stainless Steel Travel Mug Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
The maker needs to be ABSOLUTELY level or else one cup will overflow and the other will not fill at all. The unit is way too sensative about being even slightly tilted. My unit sat on a seam in the formica and one side was about 0.5mm higher than the other. That is enough to cause a flood of coffee that overflows the drip tray and flows onto the countertop.
The way the water reservoir lid is attached makes it difficult to fill without spilling. The lid also drips 2cc of water when I raise it.
It appears that water also leaks from the reservoir, but I haven't proven this conclusively yet; there is so much water everywhere it's hard to tell exactly how much of it is from each of the many faults.
So far my mugs have held together...
This appliance is an overall disappontment. All the little faults could be tolerated if there was only one, but the cumulation of many faults makes this coffeemaker one to avoid. NOT RECOMMENDED.
