5.0 out of 5 stars Tired of the endless drip?
Then this little perculator is for you!! It is really cute and stylish, hardly taking up any counter space at all! I didn't realize how ugly and worn out looking my old drip pot was until I replaced it with my little 6 cup Meritta. This pot is super fast, perks out 6 cups of wonderfully hot coffee in 6 minutes (1 cup per minute). Once it has complete it's perking...

2.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful yet flawed
This could be the world's best little perculator except for one major flaw. The clear viewing ball on the lid is made of plastic, becomes brittle in relatively short time, and it WILL break. According to the manufacturer, you cannot simply purchase the ball - you must replace the entire lid. When I tried to order the lid, there were none in stock. It is pretty though!

This pot is super fast, perks out 6 cups of wonderfully hot coffee in 6 minutes (1 cup per minute). Once it has complete it's perking cycle, it keeps the remaining coffee nice and warm. I highly recommend Merlitta 6cup if you are tired of the endless drip, sick of looking at the huge unit on your counter and want a fresher tasting coffee.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, convenient little coffee pot, November 1, 2000

This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
I am as much of a coffee connisseur as the next person, and I certainly enjoy my double tall non-fat lattes. But, not having a lot of counter space, I needed a small coffee pot for home use. My friends cautioned me against a "percolator," but I wanted to try it. I have been enjoying it and quite like it for home use. It's nice to be able to brew a small pot of coffee and then either share a cup with a friend, or drink it myself throughout the morning. A couple of tips: Buy some good coffee with dark beans (french roast, or a good blend) and grind it on the percolator setting in the store. I started out with too fine a grind, and the coffee didn't taste very good, but when I switched to a coarser grind (and a different kind of coffee), it was much better. This is a great little coffee pot, but if you are a true coffee afficianado you should probably stick to a drip system.

4.0 out of 5 stars A transformative coffee experience, August 11, 2000

My wife and I were delighted with the flavor from this Melitta MEP6 (otherwise known as Java Perk), having managed--somehow--on a cheap drip system for far too long. Set-up and maintenance is really easy, and the sound of it "perking" is delightful. It's also well-made and attractive.

Be warned, though--"6 cups" means six 5-ounce cups, means not quite four regular mug-fulls. Great for two people, though, and fast. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Coffee Pot, October 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
My wife and I have tried various types of coffee in this pot and have never been disappointed. We have been using this coffee pot religiously for about 2 months now and really enjoy it. It has out performed any other percolator that we have ever owned. The previous reader who only gave 2 stars must either enjoy giving low scores, knows nothing about making coffee, or is used to drinking something less than great coffee. This is also very apparent by the fact he thinks that anything with the Starbucks name on it could possible be associated with "real" coffee! Pleeease!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the style and coffee, June 19, 2000
This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
First it got here so fast in perfect condition. Second, it is so cute. I am so tired of those automatic coffee makers and was happy when mine went out. Reminds me so much of childhood and drinking the milk coffee as a child. Enjoy this product a lot and just what I was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you would want, July 31, 2001
This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
This little 6-cup percolator is the best thing I have bought in a long time. I make my own coffee bean blend and custom grind it each morning, and even though the drip method makes great coffee, it misses the distinctive richness of your specific coffee that you can get with the percolator, hands down! I didn't want to spend alot of money but percolators can be pricey. The beauty of this model is that you do not have to use a filter, yippee! (no grounds in my cup)! Who wants to deal with that when you are half asleep? It brews very quickly, keeps it good and hot without baking it, and the pour spout doesn't dribble down the body either. I have found this to be a very well designed item. It is a very good value and a delight to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars perfect for 2 people but some big design flaws:, March 29, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
I love this pot--I bought it because my husband has an amazing ability to break every glass coffee pot once it's in the sink, so I hoped this one would be indestructible... Also, it's nice looking, my friends comment on it's cool 'retro' look.
ALAS I have to agree with the other guy about the lid, that was the reason I was writing a review tonight, the lid is a PAIN to get off when you need to clean the pot, with nowhere to grip and as a result you pull on the little plastic knob,(which I actually assumed was glass at first); wiggling and twisting it and essentially it cracks! Believe me, It didn't take long to crack with the yanking of the lid EVERY time.
Also someone else mentioned it does not make 6 big cups of coffee and that is very true, so it's not good if you have company, but ok for 2 people...
Of course when my new pro style ESPRESSO machine arrives, the java perc will take a break. Possibly a LONG break. In the glassless coffee maker graveyard.
SO,mainly it does make great coffee (though there is some sediment), it's nice looking and small, BUT the lid is a pain. If anyone can tell me a trick to opening it I would love to know!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest little coffee pot ever!, November 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Melitta MEP6 6-Cup Percolator (Kitchen)
This coffee pot is just what the doctor ordered. Makes great coffee, keeps it a little hotter, especially since I put cream in it, it's very fast and looks great on the kitchen counter. I also cut down regular paper coffee filters to fit, no sediment. Try it, you will love it.
