Older model seems to be better.,

I bought this to replace my older model Melitta one:one, which I've used happily for two years. Lucky I didn't get rid of it yet because I may go back to using that one. The wider spout on this model doesn't go down far enough and causes too much splashing, although I haven't tried using it to fill two cups yet. Also, for some reason my coffee tastes burnt. I'm using the same pods I've always used so I think maybe the temperature is too hot on this brewer. Overall, I like my older Melitta better.

I just received my new Melitta One:One Single Serve Brewer(MES5B)and it is an amazing pod coffee and tea maker. I have used almost every pod machine out there, and this particular Melitta One:One is absolutely the best of the bunch, at an incredible price. The coffee comes out hot, just the way I like it. To top it off, it works with my favorite coffee pods from [........]. Arabica Express coffee pods work in the single pod holder and their larger Sensation coffee pods work in the double pod holder. I am absolutely thrilled about my new purchase!!!

Very satisfied, with one caveat,
This review is from: Melitta Pod Brewing System Coffeemaker & Tea
I wanted a coffeemaker that didn't involve the hassle of daily disposal of the coffee grounds. I considered the Keurig, which we have at our office. It works great, but for my personal long term use, I knew pods would be more economical than the K-Cups. This Melitta coffeemaker does a good job, I think. It makes good coffee, which is very hot. I have used a couple of different brands of pods; some fit better in the double pod holder. I haven't particularly noticed the "splashing" that one reviewer mentioned. The reservoir is very easy to fill with a large measuring cup; I don't ever take it off the machine. It is noisy when it pulls the water in and heats it, but the sound is comparable to the Keurig at the office, so I guess it just comes with the territory. The caveat is that it does not have the 30 minute automatic cutoff feature that is advertised. When I emailed Melitta's third party handler of warranty claims, they told me "you have to turn the machine off yourself." The customer service rep at Melitta was extremely nice about this, and sent me a replacement machine, but that one didn't have the feature either. I think the bottom line is that it does not exist. However, that wasn't a deal breaker, and I am happy with my coffeemaker--especially when I just toss that pod in the trash.

I replaced my Senseo with this Melitta and loved it... the flexibility to fill a full size travel mug (14oz) was great and it worked fine for a while, but started to get hard to engage the plastic lever and locking system properly. I tried using a food grade lubricant to no avail. The plastic handle finally broke off completely leaving the unit useless. Don't know what I'll replace it with....maybe another melitta and hope for better luck. Update at 7/18/10... Did purchase another one at Tuesday Morning for $15 and after about one year, and despite very gently handling and use, the same plastic handle broke off rendering the unit useless. Buyer beware.... of course what did I have to lose at $1 each?

Glad to find the Melitta. I was trying to make do with another which was rediculous. The One:One was my original as I only fix one or two cups a day and I love it fresh. This works great with minimal stress. Don't have to pour water for each cup, etc. and can use a variety of the coffee pods.

This is my 4th pod coffee maker. The first two were Black & Decker Home Cafes. Although they were my favorite as far as features, both quit working within a few months. I tried a Cuisinart and was disappointed in lack of features and it was actually a drip coffee maker instead of using a steam pump. It made coffee that was 'okay' at best. This Melitta uses steam and gives the choice of cup sizes up to 14 oz. The Melitta makes a very nice cup of coffee, even using other makers' pods, but it can't use the capucchino pods made for the B&D Home Cafe. Too bad since I have 2 bags of those pods left over. The auto turnoff doesn't work as mentioned in other reviews but no big deal, I just manually turn it off after using it. Over all, the Melitta is fast, convenient, makes great coffee, and I love the 2 separate cup feature for when I have a guest. If it lasts longer than the B&D Home Cafe I will be very happy with it. Warning: I also bought the eco pods but they do not fit the Melitta or the Cuisinart, just Senseo coffee makers.UPDATE, Sept 2010: Sadly my much-used Melitta coffee maker quit working after 18 months. To be fair, I used it every day, several times a day, so I feel like I got my money's worth. Would buy another one but it appears that it might be discontinued.

Works fine with pods or plain tea bags. Not perfect, the temperature of the water entering the cup is below 200 degrees but a good bang for the buck.

Worked fine for about 3 weeks then would not do anything but blink it's lights. I tried to call 800# in booklet & also the email. Neither worked. The seller would not help so I had to replace it with another brand.

This coffee maker is not working at all. When I try to use it the green service light just keeps blinking and nothing happens.I tried to call customer service. But the phone number listed in the brochure is wrong.
