Great timer, misleading description,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Melnor 3018 6-Cycle Digital Aqua Timer (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this timer because my lawn is in horrible shape and I needed to dethatch and seed. My goal for the timer was to water at various times throughout the day to keep the seed wet to get it to germinate and grow...As far as I can tell, the timer is well constructed and it is very easy to program. Another nice feature is the manual turn on button - if you hit the manual ON button it only stays on for the amount of time you have programmed. Press and forget...nice. I give it a 3 instead of a 5 because the ad is misleading and I would have bought a different timer if I had known. It says it is a 6-cycle timer and doesn't mention much else. That does NOT mean that you can set 6 different programs per day. It means that you can set the repeat time, instead of every 24 hours, down to every 4 hours. 24hrs/4hrs = 6 times per day. That's actually what the ad is describing. I don't know about you, but I don't water at night. That can make the lawn more susceptable to disease. Since I don't have weeks to return it and buy one that can handle multiple programs I opted to just turn it on when I go to work in the morning, have the timer come on in the middle of the day and have my wife turn it on when she gets home. This way the seed stays wet all day. Melnor has their timer manuals available on their website(www.melnor.com/instructions). I suggest reading the manual before you buy the timer to make sure it is what you need.

Water timer review,
This review is from: Melnor 3018 6-Cycle Digital Aqua Timer (Lawn & Patio)
A nicely designed water timer that uses 9V instead of 1.5V battery, making it more reliable for the whole summer. Simple and easy to program, very compact, with a simple, durable valve that opens and closes with a click, rather than a running motor.

Foolproof!,

This review is from: Melnor 3018 6-Cycle Digital Aqua Timer (Lawn & Patio)
No knobs, dials, ect. Just 2 buttons and a menu to follow for foolproof watering. Diaphram type valve only works when water pressure is sensed by the timer, and a nine volt battery lasts all season!
