4.0 out of 5 stars Melnor Oscillating 3200H Sprinkler
I bought this sprinkler because Nelson no longer makes a metal version and also discontinued repairs in spite of the warrenty. The Melnor is metal, heavier than plastic models, of course, and therefore more stable. It is nicely finished and there were no missing parts. I had two complaints: The directions were incomplete, neglecting to review the spray pattern symbols,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Parts Missing, Poor Quality, Not packaged well
After buying a new sprinkler every year, I decided to order a "quality" sprinkler this year. Maybe it would last a bit longer.

When I opened the package, I noticed:
- Some of the parts were missing. Some of the "jets" (on top, where the water exits) were missing, so there were large holes.
- There was no rubber gasket for the hose to attach...

4.0 out of 5 stars Melnor Oscillating 3200H Sprinkler, August 1, 2008

This review is from: Melnor 3200H Classic Heavy Duty Metal Oscillating Sprinkler (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this sprinkler because Nelson no longer makes a metal version and also discontinued repairs in spite of the warrenty. The Melnor is metal, heavier than plastic models, of course, and therefore more stable. It is nicely finished and there were no missing parts. I had two complaints: The directions were incomplete, neglecting to review the spray pattern symbols, and the domed mesh filter is loose so that it falls out when you remove the hose. The spray patterns were easy enough to discern with a little experimentation. I bought a 2 inch brass on/off valve with a revolving hose coupling which stays permanently on the unit and therefore always holds the filter in place. Overall, I was pleased with the weight and functioning of the sprinkler and would buy it again.

- Some of the parts were missing. Some of the "jets" (on top, where the water exits) were missing, so there were large holes.

- Several of the control parts seemed to be made of cheap plastic.

Fortunately, Amazon has a great return policy. So I packed it up and sent it back.

3.0 out of 5 stars missing piece(s)?, July 8, 2010

Mine came with the sprinkler half out the box. I noticed the arm was not attached to the oscillating piece but I'm not sure if I'm missing a piece or not as I cannot change the spraying pattern - only how far it oscillates. My sprinker doesn't look like the picture either - I have a yellow knob on the inside section a 'gap' between that and where it attaches to the oscillating piece. Am I missing a piece or was there a model change?

5.0 out of 5 stars Melnor metal oscillating sprinkler, July 29, 2011

This review is from: Melnor 3200H Classic Heavy Duty Metal Oscillating Sprinkler (Lawn & Patio)
I like the quality and durability of this metal sprinkler. It has many spray patterns that I have not mastered yet. I usually test the pattern since I cannot figure out the markings on it. Once I get used to how to adjust the spray, I will be very happy with it. The instructions were not any help. They state that the sprayer can be set to 72 different spray patterns, but they don't explain how to set it to a pattern that I want.

I bought three of the "Heavy Duty Metal" models. After three weeks, two are not working. I am sorry I wasted my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective and Clogged Brass Spray Jets, June 16, 2011

This review is from: Melnor 3200H Classic Heavy Duty Metal Oscillating Sprinkler (Lawn & Patio)
My sprinkler was delivered, timely, however, I would NOT recommend since three (3) brass jets are defective and clogged. I don't believe it is a pressure problem since the outside spigot was only water been used when I tested the sprinkler. In addition, I have a new water service line and my county upgraded our main water line the past 12 months. That is how come I don't believe a water pressure issue. I do not recommend this sprinkler.

2.0 out of 5 stars I don't like it in its orginal form, re-engineering required, July 27, 2010

I had to add a spacer to the sprinkler arm to prevent it from blowing out the "hose" end of the sprinkler. I sent Melnor photos of my re-engineering of their defective product but have yet to hear back from them. It is a fine sprinkler now but understand that if you purchase one you may have the same problem I had. If I could insert photos of the fix I would do so.

After reading mixed reviews about this item I purchased it. It came complete and works well. It's being used to water the vegetable garden and puts out a full spray pattern. I would recommend this sprinkler.

1.0 out of 5 stars Body maybe Metal but gears and mechanism is PLASTIC, July 18, 2010

For the same reason, so many have bought this sprinkler, thinking that it would hold up better than the many plastic ones we have purchased. (Then to find a fair amount of plastic used).
I have had it about 3 weeks now, and the gear mechanism came apart, but being plastic I could put it back together, then today the pin that holds the spray arm to the gear mechanism, came out, and I had to put a screw in it. It works but now it leaks.
So much for thinking it would be better.
