This isn't my favorite style of sprinkler (I prefer impact), but it is certainly well built and functional. I give it 5 stars for quality and 3 stars for function. Try Melnor's impact sprinklers for better function...

I purchased two of these to replace older revolving sprinklers made by Melnor. The spray arms are set at to low and angle and have a hole on top that shoots water up in the air. When set as fan spray and low volume the fan hits a few feet from the unit instead of going up in the air. This was a real engineering failure.I e-mailed Melnor yesterday and offered to FEDEX them to their facility to evaluate the problem. Looks like someone engineered the up angle to fit the box for packing instead of function.

I've been looking for this type of sprinkler for a long time. I had an old, old one until my husband ran over it with the lawn mower. Good stong construction, you can regulate the pressure in each sprinkler head making it nice for different shaped spots. Would purchase again.

Difficult to use,

This sprinkler sounds like a good product. It is made of metal, it is sturdy, and it has enough weight to stay put. But the first one I ordered was defective, with one stopped-up spray head, so it had to be returned for a replacement. The second one is difficult to adjust so the arms are in sync and turn evenly. It does seems to work reasonably well if the object is to spray a thin jet of water in as wide a radius as possible -- while you stand and watch it. Once your back is turned, it slows to a halt. If a fuller spray is desired for a smaller area, well, good luck. I've fiddled and fooled with this thing for some time now and cannot get it to do what I want. My newer, two-dollar plastic sprinkler from Wal Mart works just fine, though.
