I have one of these on the end of my hose when I am using several single purpose nozzles. I don't have to go all the way back to shut off the water to go from a shower nozzle to a sweep nozzle or a feeder. The quality of Melnor's casting and machining is great. No leaks, smooth valve operation, and if it gets dropped it won't split. It's the last one you'll ever buy.

This is a very well built valve cast and machined from solid brass with a small amount of plastic as a gasket material. This one should last for a very long time. Opens and closes very smoothly.

The faucet outside my house is broken, and without having a shut-off attached it will leak constantly. For years I have suffered with using plastic models that cost about the same as this one, but just don't work very well.

I've gone through several of the plastic variety, since they only function for about a year before they start to leak again. Also, it is extremely easy to cross-thread a plastic unit, especially when attaching it to older attachments with some wear.

This brass valve seems to have solved all my problems, and should last a long time. The movement on the valve lever is easier than on the plastic models. I wrapped teflon tape around the threads before screwing it in, and I didn't have a single drip come out from any joint, despite my low expectations.
