Best sprinkler I've ever used.,
By DAVID DASCOLI (Bridgeton, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Melnor 9538 Deluxe Pulsating Sprinkler With All Metal Head (Lawn & Patio)
The Melnor 9538 metal head pulsating sprinkler is the best type of sprinkler I ever used. Its sleek green sled base keeps the sprinkler steady while in use without wobbling. The sprinkler itself operates virtuously flawless. In fact, this sprinkler will even do a partial or a full circle in either clockwise or counterclockwise directions with very little water pressure in use. Also, the jet can be adjusted for more enclosed areas with the metal deflector to cause the jet to flow downwards or create a more diffused spray with the diffusion screw. The best part is that since it is a metal head, it won't become scorched or break as easily as do plastic sprinklers. Overall, this sprinkler outperforms leaving the other sprinklers obsolete.

High Rating for a low cost lawn sprinkler,

I've tried cheap sprinklers, fancy lawn articles and have been disappointed with many. Breakage is common when purchasing items in retail stores. Or they are rediculously expensive.
Until I replace the many lawn heads and broken feed supply lines on my in ground system, I am using the old fashioned type. I was really pleased with the ease of use, the instructions and the quality of the Melnor 9538 Full or Part Circle Sprinkler with Metal Head. The Green plastic base looks silly but it very useful. When a product is good, easy to use, I have no problem giving it a 5 star rating or my time to review it. I have high pressure in my water lines, so chaining two together did not present me with a problem.

Excellent Sprinker - Excellent price,

It feels somewhat ridiculous to be writing a review on the performance of a sprinkler, but this one warrants the effort. Over the past few years, I have purchased approximately 10 sprinklers. This is, by far, the best. To sweeten the pot, it is also the cheapest I have bought.
Normally, when I see a sprinker say its range is 50, 60, 70, etc. foot diameter, I immediately discount that range as some theoretical, laboratory-type performance (no wind, perfect water pressure, etc). Without being a total geek and pulling out the tape measure, I can say it has done easily over 75 feet on my front yard, and it does so with a good, strong, evenly distributed spray. The plastic-sled design is heavy enough to keep the sprinker anchored so that the impact mechanism functions flawlessly and accurately. I've purchased 3 or 4 "spike" design impact sprinklers and, invariably, the ground at the base of the sprinkler gets saturated, so the sprinkler wobbles, tips, and the next thing you know, you are watering your trees and not your lawn. I just bought two more before it is no longer available. This one is well worth your money.

If you're looking for a simple, cheap sprinkler, and you don't want to chain them together, then this one is fine.
Some notes: 1. Coverage is not especially even, unless you use the diffuser to interrupt the stream. It overwaters the outer edge of the path. 2. Using the diffuser decreases the diameter of the coverage by about 50-70% 3. In conditions of low water pressure (for example, when using this on one half of a Y connector, or in a chain with another sprinkler), there is not enough force for the sprinkler head to turn. This results in the sprinkler watering a single spot on the lawn, flooding it, because it's unable to rotate. All that said, if you just want a simple, cheap sprinkler, it isn't too bad. If you're willing to pay a little more, I suggest a craftsman rotary sprinkler with four nozzles (provides much more even coverage, rotates under low pressure conditions, but does cost about $29). Hope that helps.

Melnor Full or Part Circle Pulsating Sprinkler with Metal Head #9538
We run 9 to 10 sprinklers, our Melnors were over 30 years old and had to be replaced. Not being able to find them locally we finally located these on Amazon, and ordered about a dozen. They are fantastic for coverage and easy movability. I am thrilled Melnor still makes this type.

This sprinkler seems to work well so far. The base is light, so I weight it with a brick or two. At least it has continued to work, which is more than I can say for any of the Gilmour sprinklers I have purchased.

This is the 7th one of these i have purchased. I have 10 acres to water and I like it the best of all the sprinklers I've tried. Three years ago I put about 4 acres of grass in new. I tried alot of different sprinklers and I believe this is the best.

pulsating sprinkler,
This review is from: Melnor 9538 Deluxe Pulsating Sprinkler With All Metal Head (Lawn & Patio)
These are nice because they sit balanced on the ground. Not big and bulky, with a fair price. We had purchased some cheaper sprinklers at a local hardware store, and my husband feels they work just as well as these without shipping and handling and at a lower price. I have used both and i feel that they both do the same job except the base on these melnors 9538 pulsataing sprinklers is a added bonus.

Nice sprinkler. Good range. However, since the purchase, I found the exact sprinkler made by Gilmour, at a much cheaper price at Lowes.

This product is made in China, not USA as the Amazon description states. Do NOT buy this product if you are looking for an American made sprinkler as I was. Very disappointed when I received the package today from Amazon. I went out of my way to buy an American made product, and I was fooled by the deceptive description. Amazon should address this.
