Taking me back...what a blast!,
By
This review is from: Melon (Audio CD)
One of my college roommates had this on LP back in the 70's. It fit the spirit of the times so well that I eventually had to buy my own LP...used...and for quite a bit more...in 2002! I lobbied Rhino Handmade, who released the Cycles compilation, to release the Melon album on CD in its entirety, and although I'm not claiming a lot of influence here, they eventually did it!
Now I have both the LP version, which I digitized and then spent lots of hours declicking by hand, *and* the CD version stored next to each other in my iTunes library where I can get double the fun! I like all the tracks, but a few stand out: "Get It While You Can" is an upbeat track that I've used on occasion to get over procrastinating about life's decisions. "It Ain't Easy" helps me cope when those decisions don't quite turn out as well as I'd hoped. "I'm Happy Today" keeps that post-crisis therapy going (for at least another song, eh?). "Don't Give A Hoot" gets the attitude back to a more...positive...perspective. And "Join The Band," the best track on the album, gets me back into the game for the next round. OK, so the album didn't get the best reviews by the critics out there, but it's still a blast and, sometimes, just what the doctor ordered!
