From Library Journal
The father of the title is Laurence Olivier, but the operative word in the title is "around." A theater producer and director in London, the younger Olivier has written a book that begins with his famous father's death and contains only the briefest of glimpses of the old man. What the book is about is Richard's discovery of the men's movement as led by poet Robert Bly, mythologist Michael Meade, and psychologist James Hillman and how that discovery helped him deal with his own identity crisis. Perhaps of interest to those who enjoyed Stephen Bogart's similar search for self via a famous actor father (Bogart: In Search of My Father, LJ 7/95), this book is best suited to large men's movement collections. Librarians should be sure to file it under self-help, however, as Laurence is but a minor player in this drama.
