5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Drama in Four Acts, March 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Melting-Pot Drama in Four Acts (Paperback)
Written at a time when Theodore Roosevelt promoted a liberal immigration policy, this play of an Anglo-American writer has become synonymous with the American immigrant experience. In The Melting Pot, Israel Zangwill (1864-1926) delivered the message that America "is God's crucible, the great melting pot where all the races of Europe are reforming." The Melting Pot opened in Washington D.C. with President Roosevelt attending. This drama is not out-dated, especially with immigration policy issues once again at the forefront of the American political scene.
