Now one of my favorites from Max, December 17, 2005

This is a joyous cd with most tracks composed by the great Stanley Cowell and in the company of Gary Bartz (of fusion Miles era fame) and Charles tolliver (Played with Andrew Hill & Horace Silver, a.o.). This reminds me a bit of the almost simplistic style of composition found in Horace Tapscott work, or the 'Illumination' album by Elvin Jones (where credit is due to the Prince Lasha and Sonny Simmons team). Excellent and recommended to lovers of hard bop and melodic-yet-challenging jazz.
