5.0 out of 5 stars Chant of '42 - WOW!!, January 1, 2005

This review is from: Members the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (Creston: Chant of 1942; Hovhaness: Celestial Fantasy; Dello Joio: Air for Strings, etc.) (Audio CD)
This is an entertaining, often endearing, collection of Americana. But what makes this album unmissable is Paul Creston's powerful "Chant of '42." Creston is certainly one of America's premiere, though vastly underrated, composers (try the Naxos disc of the first three symphonies for a terrific, low-priced sampling), and the "Chant" alone is worth the price of this album. Get it!
