Review of Memnoch the Devil,
By Michael Barnett (Plano, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Memnoch the Devil (Hardcover)
This is one of my favorite books from Anne Rice. She is exceptional in her research and details of two thousand years ago. Her character development of Memnoch, and interactions with Lestat are wonderfully created. I love the premise and story, and how it moves away from just vampire lives and into heaven and hell, and afterlife issues. It is an adventure on a grand scale

Memnoch, Enoch, Knock, Knock,
This review is from: Memnoch the Devil (Hardcover)
Knock, knock, who's there? I think that the answer to this common knock, knock joke is always silly and usually does not elicit a laugh unless one is not used to hearing knock, knock jokes, vampires can wear out their welcome in the same way that too much religious theory about heaven and hell and remind people of a sermon they have heard a thousand times. However, this novel does not sermonize it explores the concepts creatively. Anyhow, the concept of vampires is married with fallen angels that mimic the actions of the most famous fallen angel Satan Lucifer, but the book does not seem evil or to encourage. I saw it from the perspective of fiction and creative exploration of indirect Christian theology about angels. |
