5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
The music in this album is so dark and beautiful. It bring's peace on a person and you really can feel a calmness. Would recommend it to anyone who is really into this kind of music. All great song's!!

2.0 out of 5 stars DULL and FULL OF MONOTONY
I was really looking forward to this CD but after listening to just the first half I am bored to death. Almost every piece sounds the same and is scored the same...dull and unimaginative. Actually pretty depressing in mostly minor keys and similar tempos. There are MUCH better 'atmospheric' CDs out there.

I'm a huge fan of Midnight Syndicate and Nox Arcana so I was hunting for similar artists when Dark Sanctuary came to my attention.
From my first listen I was hooked.
I can pretty much tell if I'm going to like the group right off the bat.
My first impressions of DS couldn't have been better.
After a lot of previews I decided to make Les Memories Blessées my first purchase from the band.
All the lyrics are in French but I've been listening to death metal for years so I don't really mind not being able to understand the words.
Good music is good music.

I don't usually go into song by song details but I will here.
I'll be brief.

Track 1...Soaring highs and powerful lows. Beautiful and epic in every way.
Track 2...The bells have been stuck in my head for days. Impossible not to hum. Gorgeous.
Track 3...Dark and oppressive, just the way I like it.
Track 4...Somber and introspective, the end picks up a bit.
Track 5...Acoustic guitar is the main instrument here and it's beautiful.
Track 6...Awesome song one of my favorites. It just keeps building and building till it reaches the end.
Track 7...Slow and haunting, also builds to a beautiful conclusion.
Track 8...Urgent acoustic guitars with incredible vocals.
Track 9...Slower and very quiet. Ends on a beautiful note.
Track 10...Bells chime, very gloomy. Acoustic guitars lighten things up a little in the middle.
Track 11...More doom and gloom, I like it.
Track 12...Another of my favorites, the beginning is stunning.
Track 13...Very simple and basic, falling rain coupled with minimal piano makes for an effective closing.

All in all this band got huge in France, Italy and Germany.
I believe they are now on indefinite hiatus.
That is a shame but the group was marketed mostly towards the American heavy metal audience which was a huge mistake.
If you Google reviews of their releases, they're all on metal web sites.
The group has more in common with Dead Can Dance and even Enya.
They should have been marketed as New Age and perhaps they would have had a bigger impact on England and the U.S.
This band should be featured in many major movies and I can't believe there aren't directors who are using their music.
I have a lot of catching up to do with their back catalog.
Beautiful.
Haunting.
Perfect production.
One of the best goth/new age cd's I've ever bought.
I'll be listening to this years from now.
Highly recommended.

Dark Sanctuary is a very unique, talented dark wave band and I like Les Memoires Blessees a lot. Basically, the music is driven by piano and some excellent French female vocals. None of the songs are bad and the album flows from track to track very well. I recommend this to anyone looking for something different.
