5.0 out of 5 stars Profile of an ardent treasure hunter
This is not a book for the unadventurous! It made me want to pack my gear, grab my metal detector, gold pan, digging tools, etc. and take off.
Those commited to the search for buried treasures will feel likewise. I warmly recommend this book to all of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars I want my $12 back
I mean, talk about lazy. I know the guy has bills to pay, but everything in this book is simply rehashed from his previous books. Sometimes word for word. There is absolutely nothing new in this book. I loved Next Bend in the River and Buried Treasures of Maine. I've read and reread them several times. But, if you've already read the others, don't waste your time on...

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this storytelling immensely, April 30, 2007
This review is from: Memoirs of a Maine Gold Hunter (Paperback)
I have not read all of C. J. Stevens' books but this is the second of the gold books I read. Maybe if you have read and re-read his other books you might get some duplication, especially considering this is a 'memoir.'

Obviously the previous reviewer enjoyed Mr. Stevens' other books enough to re-read them several times, so I think that tells you something. For someone who has not read all of his earlier books, this book was a great read, and a serious candidate for rereading!
