Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This 100-pack of 4x DVD+R discs for newer DVD+R/+RW drives consists of write-once, single-sided discs that store up to 4.7 GB of data and approximately 120 minutes of DVD quality video--that's more than six times as much data as will fit on a recordable CD. You can transfer your home movies from VHS or 8mm cassettes, back-up computer hard drives and large files, or stuff them chock full of MP3 music files and JPEG image files from your digital camera.

The discs are backward-compatible with older, 2.4x DVD recorder drives through the use of a simple firmware upgrade for the drive in question, which you can downloaded at www.dvdrwservices.com. A one-year warranty protects you against defects in the near term, while the discs' rated archival life of 70 to 100 years means you can rest easy about the future of your data.

Special Note: If you currently own a 2.4x DVD+RW/+R Drive you must upgrade your firmware. 2.4x Write Speed DVD+RW/+R Drives sold by Memorex, Phillips, H/P, Verbatim, Sony and QPS require a drive firmware upgrade. Memorex 4x media is compliant with the new 4x write speed standards. Using the Memorex 4x Write Speed media with a 2.4x write speed DVD+RW/+R drive that has not had a firmware upgrade to support the new 4x write speed standards may result in writing errors, data retrievable failure and damage to the data on this disc. Please make sure to confirm whether your drive supports the new 4x write speed media before use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Says 4X but you can burn them at 6X as well, March 8, 2004
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 4x DVD+R 4.7GB (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
Hi, My DVD burner, an 8X external dual format DVD burner (NEC), burns these 4X Memorex DVD+R's at 6X speed, despite the fact that it says 4X on them. The setting of my burner is "maximum Speed" by default and the software I use is Nero Burning Rom 6. I never lost a single DVD+R beacuse of any burning problems. I'm very happy with the quality and the speed of these DVD+Rs.

At $99 for a 100 spindle it may not be the best price BUT get this; They burn at 8x flawlessly for me using a generic 8X dvd burner meaning that it will work with plextor, optorite, kypermedia, lite on, and most others at 8x, they are amazing for printing on with my epson r300, with no smudging.

They are identified as RICOHJPNR01, which as you know is as good as it gets.

Instead of buying something cheap, with only a 2 year archival life, I would rather spend the extra 10-20 bucks to get a FAR superior product such as this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy !!!, January 2, 2005

This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 4x DVD+R 4.7GB (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I used to buy memorex for a couple of years and then I found that some of my disks were currupt, and Then I bought a Plextor Burner and I tried to use Memorex CD in it and It would just choke on it, and I called up Plextor about the problem because I also just bought a 50pack of Memorex DVD-R disks and they would not work in the burner. Plextor told me that Memorex lets air get into the ink so it causes the disks to get pitted. Plextor Recommends Verbatim,TDK,Maxell,Fujifilm, and Sony. I recommend that you spend a couple of extra dollars and and get Verbatim media.
