1.0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY FROM THESE DVD'S, October 2, 2005
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 8x DVD+R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH THESE DISKS, i'm being completely honest, they burn fine and everything seems to be working but then when you try to play the disks in dvd player or use them later on they SKIP AND FREEZE CONSTANTLY!! I have no idea how many of the disks were defective in my stack of 100 probably all of them, but I spent weeks worth of my time burning dvd's and all that time is WASTED, belive me this is the first complaint i've ever wrote about a product, such a waste of my time, i don't even care about getting a refund

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't use them, July 6, 2005

This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 8x DVD+R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I bought 50 DVD spindle. Used them all with no problem. Once tried to see the movies they all started freezing 1/2 way. I called my friend and he had the same problem. It looks like I have to turn off the DVD player for about 15 minutes and wait for the DVD temperature to cool down. The normal heat generated from the DVD player is affecting the DVD disks. Once I do that, it works fine. Unfortunately I already bought another 100 spindle from Best Buy, but these were worse, I recorded with no problem but it froze all together once tried to watch the movie. I tried 5 disks with same result. I returned them with full refund. I used generic DVD from Staples and worked great. I transfered some DVD's and they worked fine. I'm using Philips now on NEC DVD burner and they worked great. After doing some research and reading some reviews on chat lines I found that a lot of people having the same problem. One person said that Memorex use the cheapest die for thier DVD's. Please be aware, they might burn fine but when you need to retrieve the data is were you'll have the problem.

If you own Benq 1620 or NEC 3500 burner, then you should have no problem with this. I would prefer those made by Prodisc (prodisc R03) or Ritek (ricohjpnr02). Anyway, it is not worth 60 bucks for 100, maybe under 40 bucks is good deal. You can get other better brands on sales 100 disc for 40 bucks.
