The New Batch is a Disaster...,
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 8x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
Like the poster below, I purchased 2 packs of 100 Memorex -Rs from Amazon over the winter and the discs were flawless. Unfortunately the new batch I purchased at the end of April (and which I assume they're still selling now) don't work whatsoever, despite having the same manufacturer. They won't burn at high speeds -- in fact on my PC drive they won't burn AT ALL. Unfortunately this great bargain seems to be a thing of the past. I'd avoid them at all costs for the time being.

Burns fine but can't retrive data,

This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB 8x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I bought 50 DVD spindle. Used them all with no problem. Once tried to see the movies they all started freezing 1/2 way. I called my friend and he had the same problem. It looks like I have to turn off the DVD player for about 15 minutes and wait for the DVD temperature to cool down. The normal heat generated from the DVD player is affecting the DVD disks. Once I do that, it works fine. Unfortunately I already bought another 100 spindle from Best Buy, but these were worse, I recorded with no problem but it froze all together once tried to watch the movie. I tried 5 disks with same result. I returned them with full refund. I used generic DVD from Staples and worked great. I transfered some DVD's and they worked fine. I'm using Philips now on NEC DVD burner and they worked great. After doing some research and reading some reviews on chat lines I found that a lot of people having the same problem. One person said that Memorex use the cheapest die for thier DVD's. Please be aware, they might burn fine but when you need to retrieve the data is were you'll have the problem.
