4.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Sailing
This probably isn't the best DVD-R in the world, but I've yet to have any serious problems with them. I've burned movies, home videos, and other things on these discs. So far, they've been able to take anything I've thrown at them. I'm a collector, so if I want to add a DVD to my collection, I'll go out and buy it. But these make for pretty good burning if I want to...

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING, April 7, 2005
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB/8x DVD-R (50-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I had no problems burning to these discs, its when I went back a few months later to these discs and found out that none of them work anymore. After further research I found out that Memorex uses the cheapest dye available and thus the DVDs have absolutelly no life to them, my discs started dying after a few months.

In addition, in you physically hold the disc in your hands you can feel how warped physically it has become. This is true for all the discs (about 150 of them). I CAN NOT NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT STRONLY ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far, they've been able to take anything I've thrown at them. I'm a collector, so if I want to add a DVD to my collection, I'll go out and buy it. But these make for pretty good burning if I want to preview a movie before I get it. I'm not saying that these other reviews aren't accurate, I'm just saying that I haven't had any of the issues/problems with this product that they are having. As far as the product is concerned, it's been smooth sailing for this consumer. I'd reccomend these DVD-Rs to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars "AWFULLY BAD" products for 4x DVD Writer, June 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB/8x DVD-R (50-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
If your DVD writer is slightly old - like capable of burning with 4x speed, DO NOT buy this product even for a penny!!!

Not a single DVD will work!! And your DVD writer could get damaged if you retry burning several times with these OWFULLY BAD dvds. MEMOREX 8x DVD are nothing but a JUNK!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB/8x DVD-R (50-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I ordered two of these and they were well worth the money. Much cheaper than I pay at the stores and there was no damage to any of the merchandise when shipped. I find Memorex brand just as good as any of the other brands out there, I've had no problems at all with them so far and I've burned hundreds of DVDs using Memorex.

3.0 out of 5 stars Junk for movies, fine for data, February 22, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB/8x DVD-R (50-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
They seem fine for archiving purposes, but for video use they are not read by any of my DVD machines - 2 in house, 1 portable, 2 in cars. The only device that can read them are the PCs. I threw away 5-6 before I gave up and went and bought some cheaper ones that worked fine. Go figure.

1.0 out of 5 stars Data Gone!!!, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Memorex 4.7GB/8x DVD-R (50-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
On some of the dvds data is simply gone and my machine cant read them anymore. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the cheap dye they use. Once again- you get what you pay for!

I don't know any of these other people but my experience is the same. DO NOT buy these! I recorded 125 movies and lost them all. Countless hours of time wasted. I will never buy another Memorex product.
