great jump,
By A Customer
This review is from: Memorex 512MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507751 ) (Personal Computers)
I have two of these memorex jumps "thumbdrive." Both have worked fine and taken a lot of abuse as well! No problems with pc or mac, usb 1, 1.21 and 2.0. you don't need any drivers, just stick it in the usb and it comes up as a drive adn you can drag and drop.I have had problems with cuprrupted files on cheaper brands but never on memorex. Memorex support is great, I had one drive I crushed in a door (my fault and a strong enough impact to also destroy may car alarm gizmo) and they sent me a new one! I have had other brands (ironically the lexar "sport"), where the keychain holder broke, memorex is actually more study than most) Memorex jumps are also true usb 2.0 and there are a few cheap ones that aren't.

cap breaks, warranty replacement service brutal,
This review is from: Memorex 512MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507751 ) (Personal Computers)
I can reiterate other comments that the cap design is too cheap and flimsy and will break when on a metal key ring. I found this out back in July 2005 and sent in a warranty replacement form off the Memorex website. Several phone calls, emails, and promises later, I now have a replacement in January 2006. Obviously Memorex has acknowleged the flaws in this design and changed it for the followon product.

Very Durable,
This review is from: Memorex 512MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507751 ) (Personal Computers)
This drive is very durable, but the keyring loop is not. The loop that the keyring is attached to (on the cap) broke after two weeks of use. I have had the 128MB model of this drive for over a year and my mother just stepped on it last night, breaking the case apart. It still functioned properly long enough for me to get all of the data off of it. It has fast data transfers, even on USB 1.1 (backwards compatable from USB 2.0)

Memorex 512 MB Travel Drive,

This review is from: Memorex 512MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507751 ) (Personal Computers)
I will like to say that I had a Memorex 256 MB before and it never gave me one day of trouble for one year so I decided to buy this Memorex 512 MB and give the 256 & the 512 to my kids & also bought myself a 1 GB.
I will recommend any of these items to anyone in need of moving information from one computer to another or storing your photos or music. If you are going to store lots of music and photos I will recommend a 2 GB purchase instead of any of the above. First know how much stuff you are going to be saving or moving then choose the right one for your needs, if you are not sure on the file size ask someone that knows before purchasing any. Roger T&T

drive is fine but cap is not,

This review is from: Memorex 512MB TravelDrive USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 32507751 ) (Personal Computers)
The drive works fine, and its slim profile is particularly useful in my notebook computer, where the two USB ports are very close together. I have never had difficulty with corrupted files or copying.
The cap, however, is dismayingly flimsy: it broke with very light use. I am now holding the cap on the drive with a rubber band -- and am quite frustrated by the inability to find a way to get a replacement cap. The Lexar web site offers an inexpensive package of replacement caps for its thumb drives -- why should not Memorex do the same? If only I had an easy way to get replacement caps, I would rate this tool higher.

Product as designed is defective,

This drive has a plastic cap with keychain loop which quickly wears and breaks through when used on a metallic keychain. Memorex will replace the cap, but it will only break again. Memorex support told me that my problem was that I was using it on a metal keychain and told me they would send me a lanyard to use with the device. However, I noted that the product packaging itself shows the drive being used on a metal keychain! Memorex now has a "New" travelDrive with a metal keychain loop. If you want a Memorex drive, buy that one, NOT this one!

I just bought this product a month back and I havent had any problems until now. Like someone mentioned before the storage is really 491Mb and not 512, but other than that I like everything about it. The write and read speed is good, I dropped it a couple of times and it still works as good. I think this is a good buy.

The most important feature you look for a flash drive is the speed of data transfer and with this item you have got it. I had owned a flash drive previously and it was 256MB memory. This one has greater memory and is still fast than that!!!

I love my USB. I wear it close to my heart. (on the neckchain) It's easy to use. No installation necessary. And it's easier than carrying around a laptop!

The flash drive is fast in copying files and data. I had tried with big files, and it seems to be pretty fast and its unique design of gripping makes it easy to handle and install to a USB port.
