These are excellent labels, at an equally excellent price...But, WHY do they fold the sheet in half to fit it into the box! Only after VERY CAREFULLY unfolding the individual sheets, and "unbending" the several creases, folds and "curly-cues" are you able to put them through your laser printer. THEN, I would say that approximately 1/3 of them get jammed in the works, ruining one or both labels that come on a sheet. Furthermore, with my printer I have to disassemble my equipment in order to fish out the crumpled labels sheet.

I've used these for a few years now. They work. There are some definite consistency issues between pages as the labels aren't always cut in the same place, but the other brands I've tried (Avery in particular) had similar problems.

The secrets to doing consistently successful CD labels on any brand of label paper? Background images should be signficantly larger than the label and also cover the hub completely, keep lettering well within the label (1/8" minimum clearance from the edges recommended), and do test prints on plain paper first. And you'll still waste some label sheets, guaranteed.

I've used the labels in a HP4050 laserprinter, a BJC-600 bubblejet and a Epson Stylus 1280 without any problems whatsoever. The 1280 works *very* well, and the quality of the output is impressive even at a low 360DPI setting (although a higher DPI is suggested). I haven't tried the "photo paper" labels, but except in really exceptional cases they wouldn't be worth the extra cost. Laser printers are OK but the labels don't really last that long if the CDs get any sort of wear.

Despite the issues with the labels moving around between pages I'm sticking with the same brand, as all my templates are already set up for them, and they also have had good longevity for me. CD-RWs I labeled in 1999 still have their original labels with no peeling or bubbling issues, always a good thing.

I've never used the enclosed software; I use either GIMP or my own custom label generator program under Linux. There are inexpensive labeling programs for Windows/Mac that are probably better in any case.

Finally: you really need the label applicator to use these. It was worth it, as I've never had any problems with either off-center or misapplied labels. It helps to not curl the label as you remove it from the sheet (keep the label straight as you peel the paper away from it), but it'll work OK even if the label is curled a bit. Don't forget to burnish the label down a bit after it's been applied.

They have since packaged these differently and they now come in a big flat envelope the way Avery labels do. I thought the folding was a little crazy myself. These labels are fine, but they are a bit thin, so if you are really really picky and don't want to see the imprint already printed on the CD, you may want to buy Avery. They are twice as good, but twice the price. But if you're using a ton of them, these are fine and will save you lots o' moola. Be sure and get an applicator. These are essential.

I got these labels, and the DeLuX Label Kit for a Christmas present. I was surprised with how they turned out. I can put virtually anything I want on them, and the program prints them fine without any problem. The only drawback is that, on CD's with heavy, dark print, the CD text shows through, if you are doing a light image. My solution, use a darker image. Overall: Great Product and have used it on my entire CD collection: <1500 CD's

I have had a significant problem with these labels on DVDs. Several months after application of the label my DVDs didn't work on any of my DVD players. I finally discovered that removing the labels from the DVDs restored performance. Soaking the DVDs in water helped remove the labels.

I've used these labels for three years.
Designed nearly 100 labels which have gone on thousands of cds.
To avoid cd showing through I use plain white cds. However, prefer the earlier version of the software which, all things considered, is super. I would be lost without this product.

I have been using the labels and kit for over a year now. The labels are fine, easy to use, print and apply. I use the white labels and (usually)nothing shows thru. The software is frustrating, tho, as it will freeze on you for no apparent reason adding unneccessary time to the process. Because of that, I have switched to using the Adaptec(Roxio) label maker software included with the 5.0 platinum version(tho it's not perfect either...at least it doesn't freeze)for making the Jewel cases. As a result, I am now printing the jewel cases on regular 20lb copy paper and saving a bundle!

I bought the memorex CD LabelMaker Deluxe Kit, CD labels included, and after experimenting with the program for awhile I was able to print labels. You are pretty much on your own when it comes to figuring it out but if you aren't a newbie you will be able to.One problem with the program is that once I had selected my photo and text to put on the label, it freezes and I had to shut down the computer and restart. It happened twice while I was figuring out how to use it. Another problem is that I use pictures to put on my CD labels and the paper quality for the CD labels is very poor. You have to use a blank label first to keep the text that is already written on the CD from bleeding through and then put your label with your photo or what information you have on it on top of the blank label. So if you order 100 labels 50 is going to be wasted to stop the text on the CD from bleeding through so you actually get to use only 50 of the 100 labels. They should use photo quality paper for the labels and they don't so if you put pictures on the labels they are not going to be as good as they could be. (Memorex give us photo quality paper for the CD labels please !!!!) I'm willing to pay extra for it to get a better picture. After you get pass all of this you are ok. The LabelMaker gadget works just fine and puts the CD labels on so that it looks professional.

I received the lablemaking kit as a gift for christmas. I loaded it up and was able to figure it out on my first attempt without reading anything. the menu is straight forward. the print quality is good...maybe not perfect...but reasonable...I have printed over 100 lables ove the past few days and have not wasted any. I would be interested in getting the clear lables..those were totally awesome. I had the fellowes kit and memorex is by far better.

I've used the memorex and the Neato cd labels. They both serve their purpose, but if you want good quality designs and graphics, Neato is better. Memorex labels are thin, and will tear more often if you print alot of color. It also takes a couple minutes to dry. If you're using small amounts of color and have a steady hand...you might want the cheaper one.
