This is my 5th USB Thumb/Flash Drive. Every time they up the ante' size-wise, I go get a new one. I have used Verbatim and Sandisk in the past. I am extremely satisfied with this Memorex drive. The read/write speeds are incredible and the fact that there is no cover for the port itself to lose, puts this drive high on my gadget list.

The drive has a safety function so that if you push to hard on the USB port itself, it will close on you. I found it a bit frustrating until you get adjusted to it but it isn't a hindrance.

I would buy this drive again, without question...

I have been using my M-Flyer for a few weeks now pretty heavily. I use it to transfer files between my three computers and for files at work. The 1 GB capacity I have found for me is just right. I have a few portable applications installed on it that I use at work like a web browser and email client and the read/write speed of the drive seems to handle that just fine. I also have some applications that I carry with me that I can install and use to help repair other peoples computers. I use less than half of the memory for what I call those permanent files. I really like the retractable USB connector. You will never have to worry about losing a cap. The connector is spring loaded and I have not had any problems plugging it in. The case is aluminum and since I have been using it my other plastic thumb drives just don't feel right. It is very light weight. It might be a little bigger than what I expected but that hasn't been a big concern. It comes with a leather case with a built in clip. I don't use the clip but the case keeps it from getting scratched while it is in my pocket. It comes with security software that some people might like. You can compress files and or encrypt them. Before you first use the drive you should carefully consider how much of the drive you want to use for the secure partition. If you change your mind you will have to reformat the entire drive which erases everything you have on it. I had to do that. I decided not to reserve much more than 100 MB for the secure partition. The built in software helps you set the partition size. You cannot have items open from both partitions. You completely close one to open the other. I like the drive enough that I went back to Amazon to purchase a second one but the price had gone up and I haven't done it yet. I got mine for $49 after a $20 rebate. I haven't found one for that price again yet. If you lose thumb drive caps and like something stylish I would suggest the M-Flyer. I like mine.

I got the M Flyer as a gift ang it has made my job much easier. I give a lot of presentations and I needed something portable and easy to use. The data transfer rate is very fast and I love the retractable USB. The price is great right now and I am buying some for friends.

After delaying my purchase of a flash drive for quite some time, I settled on the Memorex Flyer due to the marketing of the retractable usb port. I must say, this is VERY handy because you don't have to keep up with the USB cap - just retract the port and you're safe to go! I am very pleased with the product overall - 5 stars!

Pros:
Fast, good looking, sturdy, neat mechanism for protecting usb connector.
Came with belt-pouch, string, 5 inch USB connector cable (to allow some space/length from USB port) and driver s/w CD (small size)

Cons:
Longer than usual size
May take scratch, due to aluminium like body

It is not too big, the pullback method used surely beats having to carry a cap around. It plays well with Windows and Macs, speed is great, no complaints at all.

This is the best flash drive I have owned to date, including an IBM and Dell drive. The retractable design works flawlessly, the aluminum finish and leather case are nice, and yes it is fast.

Yes, it has a retractable USB connector. Nice. For me, however, the force required to insert into the extension cord is enough to cause the connector to retract. I need to hold it open with my thumb while I insert the drive.

The cap on my other USB flash drive is definitely a loss item, but I haven't lost it yet...

The drive itself performs as advertised. I haven't run any serious tests for speed, but it transfers about 950 MB in a couple of minutes. The LED activity light is very bright compared to the one on my other drive. The Memorex drive lacks a physical write-protect switch.

The M Flyer is a great piece of hardware. Unfortunately it falls short just a little bit for my needs. There should be a cover for the retracted portion of the drive. I am in the Army, and I get into a lot of dirt and debri. I have had to clean it several times before I could use it. Yes, I know what you are thinking; Why is he bringing it into dirty areas. My job requires me to go from the office to the outside quite often. A optional hard case for the M Flyer would be great, and would go over well with people who are in situation like me. We want to protect our investments.

With the rebate, this was a sound purchase. The data transfers super fast. It interfaces with my VR Sound frequency modulator so I can listen to mp3's in my car directly from this portable flash drive.
