Memorex Laser Lens Cleaner for DVD - REVIEW,
By
This review is from: Memorex LASER LENS CLEANER FOR DVD ( 32028015 ) (Personal Computers)
This product seems fine for occasional DVD laser cleaning. You are to only use it up to 30 times, so you will want to keep track of the times that you do use it - then throw it away. It is recommended to purchase this product as NEW. For the price, it is great for a quick occasional cleaning.

I don't see any improvement after having used this. The DVD player which has developed occasional read problems still has them even after being "cleaned" several times with the Memorex Laser Lens Cleaner. Blowing the unit out with canned air does a much better job for me.

I had an old DVD player that I thought I was going to have to replace because it had developed problems reading discs. I decided to try cleaning the lens first--and I haven't had a single problem with it since! I've since used the cleaner on my other DVD player, as well as three computers, and it works like a charm. If you're having problems with read and/or write errors, this is certainly worth a try before scrapping the player or drive.

I rent movies online and sometimes they would not play on my DVD player. This cleaner for DVD players really did the job, I have no problems with any DVDs I rent. The picture is even better than before. I truly recommend it.

It says "put in drive, press play". Well in my old panasonic DVD and my new Toshiba DVD play/write I got the error message that it couldnt be read, please eject. So no idea how these are supposed to work.

No difference whatsoever after using. My advice......Purchase a good can of air and blow out your cd, dvd, or game console. The only cleaner I have used that made a notable difference, had an alcohol applicator (wet cleaning), but I can not recall the brand of find it any longer.

Once in a while I like to review on Amazon.com the movies and tv-series' I have bought on DVD. I also had bought Collector's Edition 50 Horror Classics and couldn't wait to have a mini-marathon and watch them. Alas, the DVD's would not play like many others I had bought. I thought I would have to buy a new updated DVD player.
My friend reccommended that I should clean the DVD inside. After doing my own research, I realized that I should try one of those DVD Lens Cleaners. First I opened up the DVD case and ever so gently got some of the dust out of it. Staying away from the covered over and protected lens. Scratching the lens will destroy your DVD player. I then looked on Amazon.com and found a used "Memorex Laser Lens Cleaner For DVD". Using my Amazon.com Gift Card balance, my order only took 4 days to get here. The Disc has under the back shiny side 6 tiny brushes attached to it. Turn your television on. Press "open" for your DVD shelf to open. Put the brushy side on the down side of your dvd shelf . Play it as you would a movie. The presentation on TV will show you when to stop the disc. it only takes one minute. Just press the "stop" button which is safer for your dvd's to do. Some of us press "open". You only need to clean it once. What happens is the brushes move around your lens and safely removes dust and other contaminants. If you borrow or rent DVD's like I do that have been played many times, this lens cleaner will help keep your dvd player in tip-top shape. I am so glad that I do not have to buy another DVD player, it was only the dirt on the lens. Now all those DVD movies I could not play before ("unknown disc"), (blank), will now play beautifully. Good thing I saved them. If you still have a problem, you can carefully clean your dvd with a soft, dry cloth. Move the cloth along the disc like spokes on a wheel. From center to end. Never in a circular motion. DVD's do get dirty and get oily fingerprints on them. Causing them to skip or not play. Make sure your DVD does not have a crack or split in the sensitive middle circle. They say to use this Memorex Lens Cleaner every 10 hours of play. That's like 5 to 7 movies. I've gone for years without cleaning my DVD player, which is probably way I had problems. Now i'm going to grab me some root beer and make a bowl of popcorn and watch me some dvd movies.

This was a support purchase for a VIP in our organization. I've not heard back one way or another. So, it may be safe to assume that their DVD player is still intact.
