This is a powerful GMRS 2-way radio allowing a range up to five miles. The thirty-eight sub-channels will allow for more private communications. The backlit LCD screen is a plus when operating the radio in evening or when in a darkened arena. Finally, the radio offers ten NOAA weather channels to keep you up to date on changing weather conditions. Don't forget that you'll need a FCC license to operate the radio.

The radios offer some nice features, but after paying $75 for a 5 year FCC lisc. I expected a significant improvement in the range of the radio.

This is a good radio for the money. Easy controls and good performance. Have gotten good reception at distances over a mile with heavy obstructions in the way. This radio does not have the weather channels that is included in the product description, that is my only gripe with this unit, but it is still a good radio for the price.

These are better than the FRS that are advertised with a 2 mile range. I live in suburbia, and tested these out. Range was from 1-2.5 miles within the city (and I'm being very generous)!
