I had followed the singstand original and read the few negatives about it, being volume control and a few others. I found the SingStand 2 online, but couldn't find a single review. My daughter had been wanting a microphone system of some sort for a long time now. I went ahead and ordered the SingStand 2 from Amazon for her 11th birthday. We put it together in minutes (without instructions), hooked up the ipod touch, and got to singing! She absolutley loves it. It's made pretty sturdy, the volume controls allow you to to adjust the music and mic volumes separately. There is a feature that allows you to basically mute the vocal track on regular songs so you can be the lead. Although we haven't tried it, you can plug in a second mic, or a numerous other input sources, such as a guitar. It also worked fine with my Kindle Fire. All you need is a youtube capable device, and this is a great karaoke machine.

Let me pre-qualify my review by disclosing that I have been a professional DJ and Karaoke host for many years, so when I ordered this item for my daughters singing pleasure it was with very low expectations. We have had this machine for 2 weeks now and there is one major problem.....my daughter will not stop singing! I bought her a hand puppet recently to entice her into karaoke rehab, but now the cheerleader puppet has been drawn into the fray. Consequently I now have 2 addicts to contend with. If you have a daughter or son that enjoys singing and performing then this is the machine for you! Although not high powered, the amp and speakers are just about enough to output sound at a "comfortable" volume, although if you set the output volume of your attached device too high the resulting output level will be distorted. I would recommend setting the output volume just below the highest and then set the amp volume to high on the karaoke machine. This will take an non-distorted input signal and amplify it accordingly with little to no distortion. Anyhow in a nutshell, this machine serves its purpose for a couple of kids or adults to have some spontaneous fun. Just don't expect a mega-watt concert hall experience and you will not be disappointed.

My 9 and 11 yr old love this! It was a birthday present and they would sing all day if we let them. Pair this with the "Red karaoke" app on your iPad or iPod and you get 40,000+ songs with lyrics for $40 per yr. True karaoke. Much better than buying cd-gs. My kids use this with ease and can quickly/easily find their favorite songs. The app even records them and they can watch themselves back. You do have to play with the volume setting a bit to reduce the hum and distortion in the amplifier. Turn the iPad volume down one notch below high then turn up the amp volume to where it is comfortable. There are many different karaoke apps. Most of them you can download for free. I downloaded several for free and searched for my daughters favorite songs on all of them. Red had more of her favorites (Taylor Swift) than the others, so that's how I decided which one to purchase an annual subscription. This was part of the gift. The gift was for my 9 yr old daughter. After only 10 minutes, my 11 yr old son was hugging me saying "this was a really good present mommy". He repeated it again an hour later. Home run. My daughter was doing cartwheels, giggling, and saying " I could do this all night". Pure joy.

The SingStand 2 seems to have corrected some of the complaints about SS1. However, other issues remain. The amplifier and speakers in this system are so weak that I had to turn the volume on my iPad and on the SingStand 2 nearly all the way to max for some of the YouTube karaoke videos I wanted to use. At those volume settings I was getting speaker hum and distortion. I think the machine is fine for kids to play with, but I don't recommend it for adults who want adequate sound quality and volume for their family room singalongs.

I read all the reviews and had some concerns, but I placed the order as a Birthday Gift for my 9 year old son. It was a hit at his birthday party. The adults were using it long after my son went to bed. The best part is that you can use it with an iphone, ipod, kindle etc. This means, the sky is the limit as far as songs go. It appears to be very durable and tonight I watched my son and his friend sing their hearts out. What a riot. I did buy the second microphone right off the bat to double the fun. It was a great purchase and I believe it will provide fun to my family for a long time. When in doubt, buy it.

Great alternative to a regular karaoke machine. Actually better because of flexibility using tablet or a phone. I use my android phone and chromecast adapter plugged into my 70 inch TV. The karaoke videos on my phone are then played on the big screen and the kids sing along through the singing machine. Sounds great because the videos come through my 5.1 surround and the kids voices through the singing machine. Really sounds like they have an orchestra behind them. As far as price be patient. It fluctuates on amazon between $50-$70. I got mine for $55. 2 days later it was $50. As I write this review its $69. It's really a solidly built machine.

I wasn't quite sure just looking online if this would work with my 5 year old granddaughter, but we all love it! It's so simple to put together and operate. We leave it beside the TV and use it to "page" people in the house as a joke. My granddaughter sings with it and we interview each other about our favorite colors, what we're going to do for the day, etc. I highly recommend this set.

Ok. So we are kind of karaoke snobs. We are so picky. We also hate having to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get a decent karaoke place. We got this, and a Vizio soundbar with wireless subwoofer. We didn't even need to hook this to the the speakers. We just plug it in, pull up youtube on Roku, turn up the mic volume and go.

GREAT karaoke system.
You cannot get close to what is offered in this machine for the price.
Pros:
Good sound, Ease of use, output to external stereo system
The ability to plug in a standard mp3 (or other external audio component) and have the ability to reduce the vocals imbedded in the song is priceless! That option works very well. It will save you purchases of karaoke discs, which never have all the songs you like and are expensive.
Cons:
The speakers are at the bottom of the unit. So sometimes the singer cannot hear themselves very well (because the sound is coming out at their feet), but the people in back of them can. Also the reverb/chorus/echo dial could have a bit more effect to it.

We utilize this machine by purchasing an online karaoke website for songs, singing through the machine, and putting all audio or just music through a home stereo. I used to live in Japan and spent MANY a dollar/yen in karaoke boxes. This setup is a near as you can get to a real feel Karaoke box.

I really like this product but the mic was trashy, so I brought a new and no problem. Sounds awesome!
