Don't listen to the 5 star review. I bought it, I know how bad its AM/FM reception was in Washington, DC area. The Surround Sound feature makes the reception even worse. There is only only one button for radio presets. So, if you want to switch from Preset #3 to Preset #2, you have to press the button 30 times (i.e. #4, 5, 6, ..., 30, 1). The surround mode sounds very strange and distorted. Don't waste your money!

Today I received my Memorex MP 4119 and it was the best boom box I have ever seen and bought. Its a very great product and the price is right. You can take it anywhere you want and only use six batteries. The boom box isn't so big and only weighs about 8.75 pounds. I was gonna get the other Memorex boom box but this one looked better and had better features. If you want a good boom box and love to go out holding it with the music going, I suggest you get it. I love and once I got it, I tried it and it works great. I am taking mines to Europe and hoping to have a good time with my boom box. Memorex really did a good job on this product and I hope they continue making good things. The top brand doesn't matter as long as it works great and is good. Some people waste their money on Sony products and other popular brands but this was a very good product.

The only thing I can be thankful for is my kid's got this as a gift so I didn't actually have to pay fior this piece of junk.

The AM/FM reception is truly awful-when you can find a station. The antenna appears to be absolutely worthless. Sound quality is abysmal/

The tape deck makes a racket and has a pronounced hiss all the time.

The CD player works adequately and the sound is OK.

The unit is extremely fragile. The handle broke after 1 month of ownership and the CD cover not long after.

This is without doubt the absolute worst electronic consumer good I have ever owned.

This unit is so bad, I'll never risk buying anything electronic at all from Memorex. Period.

I hate this boombox, it is the worst piece of sound equipment I have ever had. The FM/AM is extremely weak, and the tape player makes this awful hissing noise, CONSTANTLY, even when the power is on but before you play the tape. The CD player is not so bad, thankfully, but thats NOT ENOUGH. Caveat emptor!!

This boombox really REALLY stinks! Do not buy! When listening to anything, the speakers hiss like crazy. Even when brand new, it hisses. At the end of a tape, it doesn't just click off, it clicks and cranks which ruins the tape and the tape player. The cd player is a peice of junk, it takes about 45 seconds to realize you have a cd in the player, and then take another 20 seconds till you can switch to the right track. We had to exchange it twice, but they both rott. Do not buy this crud, its waisting money!!!!! (It only has a ninety day refund, so buyer beware!!)

I told Amazon not to offer this product any longer. Not one FM station came in without a lot of static. This is from the same room a ... panasonic cheapo radio works fine. If I put it on mono and held the antenna in just the right position I could get a radio station in. Even then, the sound quality was very poor and the simulated surround botton increased the static more. I didn't even bother trying the cd or tape deck. Don't buy this product. I had it out of the box 10 minutes and now it's on its way back.
