Choose a different item!!!,

This review is from: Memorex MP383001 Sports Style CD Boombox (Metallic Silver) (Electronics)
Upon receiving this boombox, I was immediately discouraged when few radio stations were able to come dispite the fact that I can pick them up on my handheld walkman. It was downhill after that - the CD player didn't work and it would turn itself off when switching between tuner and CD. When I could get sound, it sounded hollow and void of any true sound. Choose a different radio, or at least be aware of what you're getting.

While this unit has over-all good looks and a price you cant beat. The sound is muffled and indistinct. Spend a little extra money and try a Sony. I went into the store to compare the sound difference and the Sony CFD E95 had superior sound in a similarly sized unit. The Sony was about $... more, but well worth the price difference for the quality of sound!

The radio part of this boombox was acceptable, but the CD player doesn't work at all. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Spend an extra 5-10 bucks and get something a little bit better. Memorex might make good CDR's but boombox is definitely not there expertise product.

No stars!! I just received this as an early Christmas present. I'm taking it back! I tried 3 different CD's, and the ONLY sound each time was a scratching noise. Hitting the Stop button didn't do any good. I just had to wait for the noise to stop on it's own; then the "disc" message came up. All 3 CD's were waaay off-center when I opened the CD compartment.

I own this boombox, and it sounds great, possibly the one that the other person that wrote the negative review tested was a working sample in the store that had been abused. I have owned my Memorex Boombox for 8 months, and take it with me often when going to the beach, and it has worked flawlessly, and sounds great, I have no complaints. Not only that I can buy two of these for what most of the Sony models cost, including the one that was recomended by the other reviewer, who sounds alot like a Sony salesperson posing as a [normal] customer....
