Good for young kids,

This review is from: Dora Digital Camera (Electronics)
Both of the other reviews I see on this page are dead on, yet I have to give this camera 4 out of 5 stars. Indeed, it takes horrible pictures, the flash is too bright and often saturates the picture into complete whiteness, you can't zoom at all, you can't turn the flash off, it's hard to delete the pictures in memory. (If your kid is like mine they take the 79 pictures that this camera holds in about 10 minutes).
BUT, my daughter loved this camera. It's got a neck band so she can't drop it unless she tries, and even then I'm prtty sure it would be okay, though I haven't tested this by any means. I can put the pictures on my computer and they look all right there, not great by any stretch of the imagination, but easily good enough for a pree-kindergarten kid to admire. She can see the picture for a moment after she takes it in the preview screen, or go back and look at them later. It makes Dora noises which she loves. And, perhaps best of all, it gets her to stop asking to use my much better camera. We can both take pictures at the same time now and double our fun.

really bad camera,

I was excited to see this camera on clearence at Target for twenty five dollars. Looked great and my child was very happy with the color and design (she likes everything Dora). Got it home, opened the packaging which was really tough. Took about 10-15 minutes putting the batteries in since the base needs to be unscrewed.
Once set up I realized that the picture taking setting were not as easy as my old 2.2MP Kodak DX3500 from 1999, additionally the picture quality was extremely poor, the photos it takes are unusable to make cards or email, they're worse than an old cell phones camera. Very very bad. Even for the price I paid it's going back. I cannot believe it is so expensive on amazon. I gave my child my old camera which she likes and we can use the photos if she makes cards etc.

Dora Digital Camera,

My Grandaughter is enthralled with Dora (she is 2 years old) and also with cameras, so what is better than a Dora Digital Camera? I googled it and found the one from Memorex. I read the reviews which were not very favorable. But for a 2 year old what would you expect? When she opened the box and saw the talking Dora camera she was thrilled. After putting in the batteries she could not stop taking pictures. They were somewhat grainy, you do have to be pretty close up ( the Zoo pics did not come out) but for her it was and is perfect. She is learning how to take care of a camera, how to hold it steady, how to focus on the picture she wants which was our goal in the first place. Oh, and it is VERY sturdy, she has dropped it numerous times and even spilled a Smoothie on it and it is still working. Hope this review helps. If somebody you know Loves Dora and Cameras it is the perfect answer.

broke after taking 2 photos!,

actually this is a review for the dora the explorer digital camera with preview screen....what a total waste of money. it broke after taking just 2 photos, said the batteries were dead (they were brand new), so replaced them anyway and kept getting the same message. the store we bought it at (toys r us) won't take it back (whatever happened to responsibility?), so it's gone straight in the trash! shame, it was a gift for my 21 month old daughter for becoming a big sister to twins!

Poor Pictures!,

I purchased one Christmas 2009.
I thought this would be a great gift because my 4 year old daughter loved Dora and she liked to take pictures. The camera functions are perfect for her age level, however the picture quality is horrible. She and I both were very disappointed considering I could have purchase a regular digital camera for probably $10 more. As mentioned in other reviews the flash is to bright causing most pictures to be white and the display screen is very small. I thought the pictures would look better once we transferred them to the computer, but no luck. This camera is not worth the price. My daughter has asked Santa for a real digital camera this year!!!

Terrible picture quality,
This review is from: Dora Digital Camera (Electronics)
When I purchased this camera for my 4 1/2 year old, I had very low expectations of it. This camera did not even meet those low expectations.
Picture quality: The flash is extremely bright, so bright that you will be seeing spots for a while after having your picture taken with it and the picture will be all washed out. I had to tape 3 pieces of paper over the flash to get an adequate picture. The picture quality is really terrible, and it is very difficult to make out the picture from the viewer. Once downloaded they're a little better, but still very poor quality. Usability: It is very easy to take pictures and little kids won't need much help with that once you show them what to do. However, reviewing the pictures on the viewer is not so easy, and deleting pictures is a real pain. You can't delete the pictures using the software when downloading into your computer, because it will come back with a write-protect message. So you have to manually delete all the pictures from the camera. Fun: All of these problems would have been OK, if she played with it more. I don't know why she's not more interested in it, but perhaps if the picture quality were better and it were easier for her to review her pictures, she might be more interested it in. On a more positive note: The camera has a place for a smart-card so you can greatly increase the storage capacity and it also has a lithium coin cell battery, so you won't lose your pictures if the main batteries die. All in all, I think that with today's technology, it shouldn't be so hard to come up with a decent quality camera.

It's Not Too Bad,

It is a toy so I didn't expect top quality photos. I couln't figure out how to save more than one picture. My 5 year old daughter loves this camera. She happy to have her own digital camera since all of her older sisters has digital cameras. You do have to angle the camera a certain way in order to get a good picture. Sometimes you can't determine what the pictures are but it's for kids anyway. The small screen on the back is just big enough to see a face but that's fine because the kids do enjoy it.

Buyer Beware,

The pictures taken on this camera were of poor quality. I exspected more quality for the price I paid. A disposable camera has better quality!
