5.0 out of 5 stars Really does make a difference...
I upgraded from a 1GB jump drive, and this one definitely gives enough space and then some. The memory boosting software it comes with really helps when you have just a few files on the drive and need your computer to run faster. I noticed a huge difference in performance when I had just 1GB of ram in my laptop and used around 1GB of free space on the drive for memory. It...

2.0 out of 5 stars less than half space available/root directory issue
My 512MB drive allows more storage! For some reason I can't put more than 396MBs on this thing. Even though it says it has over 1.46GBs of free space. Wtf? I'll have to see if I can get a replacement *crosses finger*

UPDATE 11/02/08: Turns out to be a root directory issue. Creating a folder and putting the music into said folder seems to be the solution. And...

It easily allows you to allocate how much space you are willing to let the drive use as memory, so you can change it all the time. Out of the 5 or 6 usb drives I have had, this one definitely wins in performance and storage capacity - all at a bargain price!

You know the old saying, "For those who have everything, get them something to put it in." I got this as a gift for my daughter, who is an educator. She always needs more portable memory for her files, and she was thrilled with the features of this little flashdrive.

This was a good buy for the price I paid and for the purpose I intend to use this flash drive. So far, I have had no problems using it or adding anything to it, it is very easy to use.

I am a big Memorex fan when it comes to Flash drives. Mostly because they can take a decent beating like my last one went through the washer and dryer and I thought I was screwed thankfully I was able to retrieve the data and then after enough wear and tear finally stopped working. I did put quite a strain on that flash drive. (And I love that this one is Red and black :-D)

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT., October 20, 2008
This review is from: Memorex 2GB TravelDrive 2007 USB 2.0 Flash Drive (Personal Computers)
As an added back up for favorite photos or documents, this drive is perfect for storing in your desk drawer or in a bank safe box. EASY to use - FAST - what more could you want? More capacity would be nice. But for $8... DUDE... it's killer.

I can't seem to add stars to my rating, but I'd probably put it up to a 4/5.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looked great, broke in six months., July 18, 2008

The eyelet that attaches the drive to a key-ring is made of a soft plastic that broke about six months after I bought the drive. Memorex advertises a 2 year warranty on the package, but does not stand by their product. Their service department calls this normal wear-and-tear, and will not even replace the "cap" portion of the drive. I have three other brands of Flash Drives, all of which have lasted over three years now with no significant deterioration. Don't buy this Memorex if you want something made to last, or a company that stands by their products.

I was very happy once this item arrived. I instantly started saving documents, images, files, you name it onto the travel drive. I still have room and keep it in my purse at all times - just in case. It is small and compact which I like very much. It is a nice red color so I can find it. Its overall a great product that a friend recommended to me. I am very happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Drive, Big Performance, March 27, 2008

Last summer, I bought this 2GB drive to use with my old PC (which I bought in 2001!), and it worked beautifully. I just plugged it into the USB port and started saving immediately. Now I'm using a new iMac, and this drive continues to perform great! I can use it on my PC at work and my iMac at home with no problems whatsoever. This is a great little drive! I highly recommend it!

3.0 out of 5 stars A perfectly good flash drive -- but the swivel design is problematic, January 18, 2009
This review is from: Memorex 2GB TravelDrive 2007 USB 2.0 Flash Drive (Personal Computers)
This is my first - and my last - swivel-design flash drive. Yes, this drive works perfectly well in terms of saving and loading files - which is obviously the most important thing - but the swivel design is nothing but a big pain in the patootie, especially if you happen to be dealing with older computers that feature less than easily accessible USB ports. I recently got one of these little drives at work, needing more capacity than I was getting with my dependable 1 GB Sandisk drive. Among the computers I have to tend to are about a dozen old Dell Dimensions situated, most inconveniently, on the floor underneath their respective computer desks. I'm one of the few people on Earth who can insert a flash drive in the oddly angled USB ports on the front of this model without even looking - until now. Even if you swivel this thing out so that it's straight, it won't stay that way for long. As soon as I begin trying to insert it into these computers' oddly angled front ports, it starts swiveling back and forth, and because it's so small, it's hard to keep control of it one-handed. If and when you're finally able to get it inserted, guess what? It absolutely will not stay in one of these ports on its own -- unless you hold it in place with your hand. And I think we all know that each swivel makes the swivel point just a wee bit looser, and that only exacerbates the problem. Having to crawl under tables time and time again to plug this drive into the backs of computers is not my idea of a good time.

If you have a fairly new computer or a laptop, you won't face the problem I've been griping about here, as these newer machines feature much more accessible USB ports, but I honestly just don't like this whole swiveling business. I really liked the previous, non-swivel generation of Travel Drives. The very first flash drive I ever had was a 512 MB Travel Drive, and it's still as good and new - and its cap still fits as tightly as it did when I bought it. If Memorex were worried about users losing the caps off of these things, the company should have followed in the footsteps of others and simply included an extra cap or two with the flash drive.

Let me just reemphasize the fact that this drive works quite well; it's just the design that I have a problem with.
