Impassioned ethereal/atmospheric black metal,

Now I know that everyone has been raving about Blut Aus Nords "The Work which Transforms God" but I think that this album has been overlooked in all the hype. Sure, it's a much different feel than the previously mentioned album. More traditional styled black metal with ethereal/atmospheric keyboards versus a black metal Godflesh if you will. But i'd have to say I like this just as much if not more. The creativity and passion just irradiate off the music. From damn near catchy riffs to highly melodic and engaging leads, a bass that's actually audible (!) , rasping black metal vocals, viking like sung choruses, passionate/forlorn sounding clean vocals and ethereal keyboards. Vindsval balances all these elements perfectly(texture-whise that is) while retaining an icy kind of atmosphere throughout the album. So be sure to check out the rest of Blut Aus Nords albums, The Eye and Children of Maane (other Vinsdval projects). Brilliant black metal.

beautiful frost bitten pagan atmospherics,

This album is one of my absolute favorites of all time. Some of the riffs and melodies are so intense that they gave me the shivers. Check out the guitar line 1:35 min. into track 4 "The Forsaken Voices of the Ghostwood's Shadowy Realm" and you'll know exactly what I mean. The vocals are actually behind the distorted fuzzed out guitars as if they are trying to find their way through the guitars like a dense fog. This album is pagan beauty in one of it's most real and powerful forms. It will inspire the pagan within. This is an absolutely stunning album: raw, distorted, ethereal, melodic, cold, mysterious,hypnotic...need I say more? !!!!!!
