Simply put, this CD contains some of the best ambient minimilism ever recorded. The sounds and textures behave as if they have secrets to disclose, but, for reasons stemming from uncertainty or fear, they place their fingers on their mouths and retreat to dark corners. The music on Memories Compiled 1 makes me feel icy cold and alone. No CD has had this effect on me before.

If, like me, you dig the works of Brian Eno, you're going to love this album full of excellent, stark, minimalist soundscapes that at times sound even more organic than Eno's music. These are swatches of sounds that slowly fade in, build to a 'fullness' of sound not to be mistaken for a climax of any sort before fading away into the next track. "Memories" is dreamy; at times a bit cold and a little sinister, at other times warm and comforting. I love it.

This Cd tends to become boring very quickly as it is repetitive and starts to sound the same in just a few tracks into it. I could only recomemd this for sleep music.
