Just heard this review on All Things Considered on NPR. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=100007776There's a cool video here where you can watch them in the studio and listen to songs. Personally, I love the combination of instruments on this album. It's got a nice feel, very chill but still enough of a vibe so that it's energetic instead of sleepy. One of the few albums I listen to straight through without skipping tracks

Great chill record,

This record has that rare balance of great players that aren't killing the music with ego. It really sounds like these guys have been crafting this music for years and years. Hard to believe this is just the 1st record they've done.

This is not my type of music usually. When I first listened to this recording, I thought it was "nice". But with repeated listening, more was gently revealed until this is one of my "never get tired of listening desert island" recordings. It continues to reveal greater depths and I so much appreciate the music.

This CD is an absolute treasure and pleasure -- easy on the ears, soothing to the soul, uplifting to the spirit and full of great riffs and melodies. I would love it even if I didn't know that the elder Beyman's are the quirky and brilliant Christopher Guest and David Nichtern. I, like so many, have followed and loved Guest's movies since Spinal Tap; and after being introduced to him in Buddhist magazines just began studying with David Nichtern in his meditation teacher training program. Don't know anything of younger Beyman CJ's past, but these two guys are the real deal -- smart, funny, soulful and all around excellent musicians. Grateful to have this in my CD player, it's perfect music for writing, reading, relaxing, meditating, grooving and feeling inspired on many levels. Go on, get yourself a copy...you won't be sorry.

Like another reviewer, I was inspired to purchase this album after hearing the review on NRP. Since it arrived it has earned a permanent place in our musical rotation at home, in the car, and at work. This is on a short list of the very best music purchases I've ever made. The instruments and melodies are warm and rich, creating an upbeat but mellow vibe. Our favorite place to listen is in the lounge chair next to our pool and waterfall in the backyard, surrounded by trees and birds, as this album just lends itself to relaxing in the beauty of nature. I am left wanting more every time the last song ends, and eagerly await news of a second album.

Music that lifts my spirits,

I'm an editor and can't listen to music with lyrics while I'm working because it's too distracting. This CD is one of my go-to's to lift my spirits while I work. It's probably saved at least a couple of authors' lives in the process, too. ;-)

It just doesn't get any better that this cd which defies categorization. I listen daily. The music reminds me of the score for the movie "Off the Map". Fantastic! My first cd got lost so I ordered another immediately. Enjoy! Avant garde, Indie, whatever you want to call it - it's the best.

I originally heard about this music while listening to NPR. It sounded intruiging just as Mr. Guest's films always are. I constantly play it and it is totally sublime. It is excellent music as antidote for the insanity in the world. I highly recommend it.

When I first heard of this Group / Album headed by Christopher Guest (Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc.), I wasn't sure what to expect. Was it heavy metal take-off, was it going to be comedic? And there is CJ Vanston on accordian! Sounds comedic to me. What a surprise. When I heard them on NPR radio I then said I gotta get this album. It's even better than I thought it would be. Very ambient sounds full of nostalgia as the title suggests. Not overbearing, love it in the background on a Sunday morning.

Couldn't believe my good fortune to hear this collection reviewed on NPR. Fell in love with it immediately. Use it as background during my yoga classes.
