I chose this book to be donated to the local elementary school in memory of my father when he passed away. I then purchased copies of this book for my three grown children as Christmas presents in memory of their grandfather. This book is gentle, compassionate and is a very appropriate aid in explaining Alzheimer's Disease to the young relatives of someone suffering the effects of the disease.
I had read about this book and was interested, given a family member's battle with Alzheimer's. And, I think it can be a nice complement to how parents try to explain the condition of a loved one battling this disease. I would have enjoyed illustrations that were more than photo conversions done with a Photoshop app. But, the story line is good and the idea of a Memory Box is one worth saving.
This book is a jewel, because it focuses your mind on the good memories that we have experienced with our loved ones. An excellent opportunity for children to remember and keep in their hearts the special times they remember. So important to focus on the good and not the bad.
