Must have for new Mommy scrappers,
By Michelle Thomas (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Memory Makers Baby Scrapbooks: Ideas, Tips and Techniques for Baby Scrapbooks (Paperback)
I love this idea book!! Whether you are a new mom or mom to be this is a must have for scrapbookers. It starts with checklists of things to keep and then goes into how to organize your baby memorabilia. It is an excellet book for both begining and advanced scrapbookers. It showcases many different techniques to capture your new arrival in photos. It has many adorable layouts with templates to help make them. It provides you with inspiring layouts from pregnancy to baby's milestones. There were also many ideas for grandparent gift albums. I have spent many sleepless nights scanning this idea book.

Jump start your creative juices!,

I'm not new to scrapbooking, but with baby #2, I don't have as much time for it as I'd like! So, when I do get time to crop, it takes awhile for the creativity to come. This book is organized SO well into chapters starting with a "Getting Ready" chapter (pregnancy, shower, baby names) and "Birth" and "Adoption", then into Family, Activities, Playtime, etc. Lots of great layout ideas, and ideas for things to scrapbook that we may not have thought of (boo-boos, illnesses, sleeping)Creative techniques that Memory Makers is known for are also included: punch art, quilling, peek-a-boo, pop-ups and pull-outs. Just lots of great ideas in one book! And Amazon's price beats the retail store price! You won't be disappointed!

Cute ideas!,

This review is from: Memory Makers Baby Scrapbooks: Ideas, Tips and Techniques for Baby Scrapbooks (Paperback)
This book has a lot of cute ideas, but I found that they are hard to recreate because they include a lot of free hand art. I enjoy looking at the pages, some of which are very elaborate and beautiful, but with my limited artistic abilities I have a hard time duplicating what I see in the book.

I have been scrapbooking for years now and with baby #1 on the way wanted some additional creative ideas. This book does have some great ideas of varying complexity and documenting some of those moments that I may have not thought of. I recommend this for anyone doing baby pages.

Great ideas to get your creative juices flowing,

I got this book from the library prior to commiting to buying it. After ordering 8 books from Amazon this one wasn't one of them. Most of the ideas are too darn "cutsie" for me (i.e. cropping your baby's photos and putting mouse or bunny ears and whiskers is my definition of "cutsie"--not my style of scrapbooking, I'm not here to offend anybody who prefers this). The back of the book has lettering patterns and title ideas which anybody may find on numerous websites such as scrapbooking.com. I suggest this book is great for those begginers who need ideas for baby scrapbook themes: Documenting pre- & post-pregnancy, baby's firsts, baby's nursery, etc. It does not have much explanation on how the pages were constructed, but for my own sake I usually don't follow step-by-step,visualizing the parts of a layout from the photo itself. This book may be good for a beginner, but more advanced scrapbookers might find it too outdated.

There's a ton of pages to look at, but not as much information about technique as some other books I've seen. If you're already into scrapbooking and just need some fresh ideas, this could be helpful.

Loved it!,

This was a great idea book. Get this book before your baby even arrives to help give you pointers on what to take pictures of and things to keep for your scrapbook. Plus, it helps pass the time by! After my baby was born I still had "fetal-brain-drain" and needed ideas for page layouts. In the back there are ideas for page titles and poems to include in your baby's book. Well worth the money......

This book is just full of beautiful and imaginative examples of scrapbook pages having to do with babies and the people, events, and milestones surrounding them. I'm writing this review in 2010 and the book was published in 2000. A lot has happened in the intervening years as far as scrapbooking trends, availability of products, and general design. However, it is still relevant as a source of ideas for layouts, colors, themes, and subjects.
I have learned that the actual photos you have on hand are what dictate your layout, color scheme, and design and that--unless you specifically set out to duplicate a certain page and take your photographs accordingly--in the end all this type of book will give you is a general idea and feel, but you have to work out the specifics yourself. Nevertheless, these scrapbooking books, however old or dated, are a good way to jumpstart your creativity, give you a feel for the project, and give you tips and ideas to borrow so you can work with what you have. This book, with its concentration on babies, is an excellent resource which gathers a lot of different options in one place.

this book is great resource for creative ideas and inspiration. All the pages have brief descriptions and stories behind the idea in the scrapbook. When ever I am running on lack of sleep and want to keep up with my daughters book, I look to this book for inspiration.
