5.0 out of 5 stars Best scrapbooking book I've seen - full of inspiration!
I've read a great number of books about scrapbooking, but this book is absolutely the best one I've seen.

The first part of the book is dedicated to basic scrapbooking technique and tips, and the rest deals with techniques and themes. Beautiful layouts are consistent throughout the whole book, and you'll be inspired by every page. The book features many unique...

1.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment!
Based on the Amazon reviews, I purchased this book hoping to get some layout ideas. What a disappointment! Ok--if you like strapbound albums, paper piecing, using multiple, unrelated patterned papers, designing pages with sticker attacks, and handwritten titles, you might find this book useful. However, if you purchase it keep in mind that it was printed in 2000--an...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best scrapbooking book I've seen - full of inspiration!, September 5, 2001

This review is from: Memory Makers' Great Scrapbooks (Hardcover)
I've read a great number of books about scrapbooking, but this book is absolutely the best one I've seen.

The first part of the book is dedicated to basic scrapbooking technique and tips, and the rest deals with techniques and themes. Beautiful layouts are consistent throughout the whole book, and you'll be inspired by every page. The book features many unique techniques such as kaleidoscoping (I've never seen that anywhere else), as well as many others that are more common, but still done to perfection here (embossing, pin-holing, layering, and many more).

Overall, this book is very good in terms of inspiration, instruction, and ideas. An ideal gift for an aspiring scrapbooker, or a veteran who could use a few new tricks.

I borrowed this book from the library and I couldn't put it down! The pages shown are beautiful, and most look attainable, even to a beginner like myself. There isn't an excess of text, which I liked (I own another scrapbooking book that is so chatty that I wonder when we'll get to the scrapbooking!). But, several of the more advanced techniques are described in more detail. Now that I've read it, I'm going to buy it for continuing inspiration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book, but most ideas are from past mag issues, December 12, 2000

This is a great book , especially for a beginner, BUT if you are a subscriber to Memory Makers magazine and have most of the past issues, you might be disappointed because a major portion of the layouts and ideas are from past issues of the magazine. I give it 4 stars because it does have beautiful layouts and many good scrapbook ideas for someone not familiar with Memory Makers magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Keeper, April 25, 2003
This review is from: Memory Makers' Great Scrapbooks (Hardcover)
I rarely take the time to write a review, but this book deserved my taking a little time out of my day.

I have MANY scrapbooking books, but I have to say that this is one of my favorites, as it incorporates many of the best tips and techniques I've seen in other books all in one place.

The layouts, although not as profuse as in other books, are inspiring and different. I would definitely recommend this book.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Memory Makers' Great Scrapbooks (Hardcover)
Based on the Amazon reviews, I purchased this book hoping to get some layout ideas. What a disappointment! Ok--if you like strapbound albums, paper piecing, using multiple, unrelated patterned papers, designing pages with sticker attacks, and handwritten titles, you might find this book useful. However, if you purchase it keep in mind that it was printed in 2000--an aeon ago in terms of where scrapbook design has come. There was one page on mosaics which was a bit interesting. The one page on embossing was just that--one page with a picture of what was supposedly embossing. There is nothing on layouts, nothing on use of fabric, metal, clay, or chipboard embellishments, nothing on handmade cards, nothing on using a digital camera, nothing on using creative titles. It is somewhat interesting as a historical document of how the craft has evolved. Beyond that, it is pretty much useless. I had thought that something by Michele Gerbrandt would offer more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scrapbooks, Ideas, Tips & Techniques, May 5, 2000
This review is from: Memory Makers' Great Scrapbooks (Hardcover)
I love anything that Memory Makers puts out....and their work gets better and better. My neighbor is always the first to get their books. When I saw this I HAD to have it. I recently got my kaleidescope published in the last Memory Makers Magazine. Memory Makers had the best booth last year at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, Texas and I look forward to visiting with Michele Gerbrandt again this year. Again, their material is the best on the market--and the highest quality I have found.
