a compact, economical SD & SDHC reader/writer,
By wideawake (PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 4 in 1 Mini USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader Writer SD MINISD MMC MOBILE RSMMC - Compatible with Sony, SanDisk, Toshiba, Lexar (Electronics)
One of the smaller SD/SDHC USB readers out there. It really is only a bit bigger than a thumb drive (and doubles as one when used with an SD or SDHC card). Reads and writes my SD and SDHC cards with no problems at all. It works great with my MacBook and iPhoto (however its width does block both USB ports). I really value this little guy.

NOT Vista compatible for SDHC...,

I ordered this reader even though it did not specifically list Windows Vista as a supported operating system. My mistake - it does not read SDHC cards when plugged into a machine using Vista Home Premium. Vista installs a driver that only allows it to read standard SD cards (which works fine, by the way). The driver cannot be updated and since this unit is designed for plug-n-play, there is no manufacturer driver to replace the Vista one. If you want a multi-card reader that will read SDHC cards on a Vista machine, look for another brand!

This product does exactly what it says it does and very well. It's easily portable and saves camera batteries. It also works perfectly after having gone through the wash in my pocket. (It seems I make a habit of sending electronics through the wash & spin cycles--see other reviews) Anyway, it's kind of like a Swiss Army knife; it's very handy and does what it's supposed to do quite well.
