5.0 out of 5 stars Marianne Faithfull's dead???
The song's great, I love it. Awesome drums, terrific guitars, and my favorite singer, Marianne Faithfull, with my favorite band, Metallica. But I have one question: when did Marianne die? She's been on tour for most of this year, just released a new CD, was interviewed on VH1's 100 Greatest Women countdown, and was just on Behind the Music. How'd a dead woman pull that...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Memories Remain, February 4, 2002

I don't usually buy singles, since the other tracks are usually covers (that end up on Disc 2 of 'Garage Inc.'), demos, or live versions, while other stars have fresh originals that didn't fit in on the album. However, imports are fun to have. Also, I got this used at a low price. Mine is the UK import on Vertigo/PolyGram. I think this one here is as well, at least EU.

Memory RemainsThis is one of heavy-metals best! Real gut-crunching,skull splitting, music. Easy to comprehend lyrics too. You can almost feel and see the music, it's so good! Give it a try... if you dare!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Complete "Outlaw Torn", January 28, 2010

This Japanese release has the uncut version of "Outlaw Torn" on it. It is longer than both the original, and the S&M version. Take a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marianne Faithfull lives, October 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Memory Remains (Audio CD)
This song is terrific, Marianne sounds great, the band is at its best. I also saw the band on SNL with faithfull, and she looked pretty much alive to me. Anyone who needs further proof: she's on tour, she just played NYC's Central Park on July 21, she was just on VH1 Behind the Music, and she has a new record out. If that guy who claims she'd dead were even a real Metallica fan, he would have seen that show on SNL, and he would have seen the video for this song.

But back to the song. It's got quite a strong message, seeming to describe the way Hollywood loves to build up its beauties, and then, once the glitter fades, wreck them and their images. It's an industry that gets off on it, for some reason.

The guitars sound great, Lars is doing a great job drumming, and as for the added vocals of the VERY MUCH ALIVE Marianne Faithfull, well what can I say? She is "the already faded prima donna."

4.0 out of 5 stars Metallica and Faithfull-the "already faded prima donna", October 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Memory Remains (Audio CD)
Great guitar work, Hetfield's voice at it's best, and the infamous whiskey-soured voice of Marianne Faithfull. What could go wrong? Not much. I saw the band and Faithfull do this song live on "SNL" a while back, and it rocked. The video creeped me out though. "Da da da da, da da, da da da da da," sings Marianne while grinding an organ. Scary sh*t, kinda like this song. It would be a great single if it weren't for that god-awful remix. Arrgh!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's ok but album is better, October 10, 1999

I feel i must inform peopel that regardless of what that other guy said.. marianne faithfull has been 6 feet underground for several, several years now from an overdose.. those were soundclip vocals so where this guy gets off saying he saw her perform on snl is absolute bull.. its still a really good cd but if you want the song go buy the cd reload it is very good
