What a terrific book! I meant to give it a quick scan but then couldn't resist reading it cover to cover--often laughing out loud, and at times crying. Sandra Elaine Scott is a natural storyteller with a welcoming voice and a pure spirit whose love shines through every page. She shares with us the wise mother that many of us wish we'd had: the proud Lola who helped nearly everyone she met, who was always a lady, who flirted shamelessly, who repeatedly saved the day through dogged determination, who loved fried fish even though it nearly killed her, and who taught her daughter to be beautiful inside and out. The lessons are all good and never preachy; they're fun! What a pleasure.

This book was a gift from my daughter. It was, in simple terms, fun! Everyone can relate to this book. You can't help but chuckle as you are reading and remembering those in your own family who could provide some "interesting" and "fun" reading! Ms. Scott, I enjoyed every minute of reading your book. Your mother would be proud!

Great Book. As I read the stories I had tears in my eyes. I would have a chuckle with some of the stories.Sometimes the story would cause me to pause and think of my mother and grandmothers. enjoy the trip down memory lane with this book.
